LADYTRON’S HELEN MARNIE RELEASES NEW ALBUM ON JUNE 2ND VIA DISCO PINATA

About

Today, Marnie continues to develop her very own take on a modern pop sound through the release of “Lost Maps” taken from her album Strange Words and Weird Wars, out on 2nd June 2017 via Disco PiƱata. TheLadytron frontwoman Helen Marnie, aka Marnie, releases the track “Lost Maps” alongside an emotionally charged video via Playboy HERE.

Comprised of ten pulsating tracks, Strange Words And Weird Wars showcases the most impressive elements of Marnie’s incarnation as a solo artist along with those that made her band, Ladytron, one of the most respected pioneers in electronic music; soul crushing synths are wonderfully accented by hook-laden choruses as Marnie boldly explores up-tempo electro dream-pop.The album is on
iTunes pre-order, and you will instantly receive “Lost Maps”, "Alphabet Block” now and “Electric Youth” on 5.12.

The ability to effortlessly play with genres becomes more and more apparent as you work your way through what is such a sonically impressive record. Tracks such as album opener, the unashamedly melodic “Alphabet Block”, nods to contemporary electro-pop artists. While “Electric Youth” channels 80’s mall pop, think Pat Benatar via M83, a glorious guilty pleasure and one of the stand-out tracks on the album, introspection comes in the form of the shoegaze-inspired“A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night”, giving the air of an unreleased b-side from a cult vampire movie. And while the new single “Lost Maps” should be heard on dancefloors around the world,
“Summer Boys”echos the hazy days of summer, dreaming big whilst reading stolenMills & Boons books.

Having moved back to Glasgow in September 2012 after many years living in London, Marnie continued to write music following the success of her solo project and subsequent album release in 2013. Influenced by life, love, loss, politics and all things 80’s pop, Marnie has created an album that has an intelligence and a depth behind what, on the surface, is a melodic contemporary pop record.

"Tei Shi's acrobatic vocals shine once again on "How Far,"... The track - which pairs gut-wrenching lyrics like "If it pleases you to see me struggle/ I will" with dreamy guitars and buzzing production - explores the thin line between love and destruction. And it'll stick with you."

""Keep Running," a silky slip of R&B pop, a little Jesse Ware, a little Solange. CHARLOTTE OC RELEASES DEBUT ALBUM CARELESS PEOPLE TODAY ON HARVEST RECORDS

CHARLOTTE OC RELEASES DEBUT ALBUM
CARELESS PEOPLE  TODAY
 ON HARVEST RECORDS

NEW SINGLE "SHELL" OUT NOW

"Darkest Hour" Video Streaming On Vevo

"Hair-raisingly beautiful...Charlotte OC makes spacious ballads tinged with ominousness and sorcery."

"(Charlotte OC) channels the bewitching allure of Stevie Nicks and the big-throated finesse of Alicia Keys."
"It's only a matter of time before you get hooked on this U.K. singer and songwriter's gorgeous sound."

March 31, 2017 - (Hollywood, CA) - Charlotte OC releases her debut album Careless People today via Harvest Records.  The young U.K. artist recorded the album at Hollywood's legendary Sunset Sound with producer/former Ima Robot member Tim Anderson (Solange, Youngblood Hawke, Halsey).  See below for track listing. Says Charlotte O.C., "The album is a collection of songs that tells the story of how other people's recklessness and careless behaviour can hurt and affect others.  It's also about me being careless and moments where I probably should have cared less while finding out what I actually cared about."

Listen to Charlotte's new single "Shell" HERE

Charlotte recently made her television debut on NBC's Late Night with Seth Meyers, where she performed the album's lead single, "Darkest Hour."  The track, which already has over one million  streams, is one of 10 originals on Careless PeopleThe FADER hailed the accompanying video as "striking" and noted, "Charlotte gives her all to her performance. As the anthemic song continues, the key lines of the power chorus, the devil he waits, the devil he waits for you, seem more like reality and less like metaphor." The Line of Best Fit observed, "The brilliance of the song lies in its contrasts; spacious, piano-led verses giving way to the towering vocals of the chorus. Lyrically, it's every part the soulful sorcery we've come to expect from this rising star."

Throughout Careless PeopleCharlotte matches the stormy intensity of her music with fearlessly intimate lyrics. With its title taken from a passage in The Great Gatsby("They were careless people, Tom and Daisy-they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness"), the album closely explores her own fascination with careless behavior.

"I wrote a lot about family problems, things I grew up with that have stayed with me through my life-but also about falling in love for the first time and everything that comes with that," says Charlotte OC, who grew up in the former mill town of Blackburn.  The stark, darkly romantic album was inspired by her homeland. "Northern England is quite gloomy and industrial, but there's also all this folklore about the North that's got a lot to do with witches," explains Charlotte. "Making this album, I wanted to mix the real and surreal in that way, to be as honest as possible but also bring out the mystical side of where I'm from."

On the slow burning "Blackout," Charlotte laces intense beats and dusky guitar lines through lyrics examining the isolation of anxiety and the beauty of breaking free.  Driven by heavy beats and ethereal effects, the stripped-back and seductive"Medicine Man"perfectly captures the dizzy thrill of falling head over heels. Meanwhile, on the R&B-tinged "Running Back to You," silken grooves and stirring harmonies meet in a bittersweet portrait of the constant longing that comes with long-distance love.  Careless People follows her acclaimed breakout EP, Colour My HeartCharlotte has also developed a reputation as a formidable live performer, delivering highly praised performances on tour throughout the UK and Australia and in the US at SXSW and Governors Ball.  Upcoming U.S. tour dates will be announced soon.
