Pure Bathing Culture has shared a new track, "Singer," with Stereogum as part of their feature coverage on the band and their forthcoming album, Pray for Rain. As writer Claire Lobenfeld aptly points out, "Pray for Rain is anything but light. The album largely deals with ideas of communication: the way two people connect romantically - particularly Hindman and Versprille themselves - how we explain our personal desires to others, and what happens when our ability to communicate becomes hindered." The band goes on to discuss the deeper motivations behind their songs, including singles "Palest Pearl" and "Pray for Rain," and the layers of communication that are uncovered in each.

The video for "Singer" was filmed at Braund Sound in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and features Otto Hauser (touring drummer for Sharon Van Etten, Jeff Tweedy) on percussion. "Singer is a very personal song," the band shared. "Obviously, it's autobiographical in regards to Sarah's journey, but also in a greater sense it's about what it feels like and how hard it can be to let go of the things that hold us back from our greatest potential."
Pray For Rain is the band's second studio album and first with producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Swans, Angel Olsen, The Walkmen) at the helm. It is a big leap forward which one can hear from the opening notes of their anthemic title track: in Hindman's clean yet serpentine guitar lines interacting with the live rhythm section and Versprille's lucid vocals cutting through it all. Pray for Rain is the sound of the group confidently taking a step up to the next level and finding their footing as a true band.

Versprille summarizes the Pray for Rain experience as one of "stepping into the realm of discovering who we are as a band and as songwriters," echoing a theme of the album itself, the process of change and transition. "You can find the best version of yourself in those hardest moments," she said.

Pray For Rain will be released October 23 on Partisan Records in the US (Memphis Industries in the EU). The band have shared singles "Palest Pearl" with New York Magazine's Vulture and title track "Pray For Rain," with Zane Lowe's flagship show on Beats1 and in a deep-diving Q&A with Interview Magazine. The "Pray for Rain" video premiered on The FADER. The album is available for pre-order now.

Pure Bathing Culture are currently on a North American headline tour hitting major markets across the U.S. and Canada including New York, Philadelphia, Toronto, Montreal, Washington DC, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. THE GO! TEAM ANNOUNCE FIRST U.S. SHOWS IN 5 YEARS

"[On The Scene Between, The Go! Team's] proven formula receives a fresh shot of youth, enthusiasm and pure pop fierceness." - NPR First Listen

"...The Go! Team are back and better than ever with The Scene Between..." - Buzzfeed

"...a classic pop album." (A-) - The AV Club

"boisterous and colourful" - Consequence of Sound

"...the power-pop album of the year." - SPIN

The Go! Team released The Scene Between earlier this year - a true return to form for frontman Ian Parton who created the album in its entirety by himself, sans The Go! Teamband members, for the first time since Thunder, Lighting, Strike. While live shows may have seemed unlikely as Parton produced the album alone, The Go! Team are gearing up to bring their wild, utterly unmissable live show Stateside as they announce their first U.S. tour in 5 years. The live lineup will feature original members Ian Parton, Ninja and Sam Dook, who will be joined by newcomers Cheryl PineroMaki and Simone Odaranile. Tickets go on sale on Friday - see below to find a show near you.

The Scene Between, out now via Memphis Industries, is markedly different from any of The Go! Team's previous releases and sees bandleader Ian Parton going back to his roots by writing, performing and producing all of the songs himself. The band'slast album entitled Rolling Blackouts became a natural end chapter for the band with members splintering off into different musical projects, getting married, teaching, experiencing real life. Bandleader Ian Parton took this opportunity to return to do what he does best - crate digging, fooling around by himself, trying to nail a feeling. He searched high and low for the right voices to match the songs, finding bedroom-core DIY artists whom he'd never met to provide vocals for each track. The result is The Scene BetweenThe Go! Team's first record in over 4 years and one of the finest albums in the band's catalog to date.

Electro Violet is the career spanning retrospective from legendary avant-garde composer Irmin Schmidt, out on Mute / Spoon Records on November 20, 2015. This 12 CD deluxe box set takes you on a journey through his entire solo work from 1981 to the present day.

Irmin Schmidt is a founding member of Can, the German band whose unparalleled genius remains unquestioned, timeless and immeasurably influential. Irmin began his classical education as a pianist, conductor and composer, studying under Stockhausen and Ligeti, before establishing Can in the late 60s, through which he combined classic new music with rock and jazz. The band’s powerful influence has never diminished, and recently Irmin Schmidt was awarded a Knighthood - the Chevalier De L'Ordre Des Arts Et Des Lettres - for his contribution to arts and culture by the French Ministry of Culture.

When all Can members decided to part ways and explore new sounds, Irmin teamed up with Swiss jazz and electronics musician Bruno Spoerri to make his first post-Can album, Toy Planet (1981), which opens the box set. The collection then travels through his Gormenghast opera, solo albums, collaborations with Kumo (Jono Podmore) and Duncan Fallowell, as well as his extensive and award winning film soundtrack work.

Following the release of Toy Planet, Schmidt continued his work for film and released his second solo album, Musk At Dusk (1987), followed by Impossible Holidays (1991).

Both Musk At Dusk and Impossible Holidays feature lyrics by the novelist Duncan Fallowell, sung by Schmidt. The collaboration with Fallowell continued with his next project: the opera Gormenghast, based on Mervyn Peake's classic novel, for which Fallowell wrote the libretto.

During work on the opera, Irmin Schmidt met Jono Podmore, electronic composer and programming specialist, which whom he formed the duo Irmin Schmidt & Kumo and released two albums: Master Of Confusion (2001) and Axolotl Eyes (2008).

All six solo albums are featured in Irmin Schmidt’s Electro Violet alongside six soundtrack CDs that provide an overview of Schmidt’s work for film.

The Film Musik CDs include a previously unreleased album, Film Musik Anthology Vol. 6 in addition to music from across over 100 soundtracks and theatre compositions that Schmidt has worked on over the past three decades.  The collection includes music from Palermo Shooting (Wim Wenders, 2008),Schneeland (Hans W. GeissendΓΆrfer, 2005) as well as the critically acclaimed German TV series Blochand Tatort, plus the TV film, Mord In Eberswalde by Stephan Wagner, for which Schmidt won the Best Film Music award in 2013 from the Deutsche Akademie FΓΌr Fernsehen.

The Electro Violet box comes with an 80-page booklet, featuring new liner notes from Max Dax and Irmin Schmidt. Each album is presented in an individual gatefold sleeve with the artwork, entitled BΓ€renkuss 5, coming from longtime friend and Berlin artist, FRANEK.  The original art measures at 5x4 feet. For more information on the artist, visit: http://www.franek-berlin.de

“Why Not” is from the soundtrack of award winning German director Stephan Wagner’s 2012 film,LΓΆsegeld (produced by WDR / ARD) and features Markus Stockhausen (son of Karlheinz Stockhausen) on trumpet.

LUSH Reform To Play The London Roundhouse in May 2016

Lush reform to play the London Roundhouse in May 2016.
(Lush in 1994)

Lush members Emma Anderson (vocals/guitar), Miki Berenyi (vocals/guitar), and Phil King (bass) have announced details of their first live show in almost twenty years, playing London's prestigious Roundhouse venue on Friday May 6th, 2016.

Tickets for the show go on sale on Wednesday September 30th, 2015 at 9am GMT via www.alt-tickets.co.uk/lush-ticketsand are priced at £27.50.

Further worldwide shows will be announced soon.

Lush played their last show in Tokyo in September 1996.

"The opportunities and practicalities of reforming Lush meant that for 20 years it was an impossible undertaking," explained band member Miki Berenyi. "But we all loved what we did, and the time is finally right for us to do it again."

Formed in London in 1988 by childhood friends Emma Anderson and Miki BerenyiLushalso included Chris Acland on drums and Phil King on bass (originally Steve Rippon who left in 1990), and were widely acknowledged as one of the pioneers of a sound that was to be christened "shoegaze."  The band signed to 4AD in 1989, and went on to release three full-length albums, an early mini-album, and a number of EP's and singles.

4AD are releasing a vinyl reissue of Lush's "Best Of," Ciao! worldwide on November 27th, followed by a limited edition box set titled Chorus at the beginning of December.

The box is a five-disc set, comprising the early compilation Gala (1990), the three studio albums Spooky (1992), Split (1994) and Lovelife (1996), and the B-sides collection Topolino (the Canadian version, also 1996), plus all manner of rarities (B-sides, radio sessions, remixes and demos, some previously unreleased).  The artwork for the boxset is by Chris Bigg, who, alongside design chief Vaughan Oliver, was responsible for the iconic 4AD covers in the Nineties.

Justin Welch, formerly of Elastica, will be playing drums for the live performances.

"...the exuberance that defines their live shows can't be taught. Mixing super-lo-fi guitar chugging with effervescent vocal harmonies, they're what it would sound like if a Sixties girl-group was born in a Nineties Seattle basement." - RollingStone.com

"an assertive rhythm and off-kilter guitar line...an enjoyable ride." - Pitchfork

"The chillest four-piece in rock hail from Madrid, and write choruses so loose and lovely you'll want to wear them in like a favorite pair of sneakers." - The FADER

"...effortless knack for crafting charming, infectiously ramshackle garage pop jams." - Gorilla vs Bear

"We're head over heels." - Noisey

Hinds recently announced their eagerly awaited debut album Leave Me Alone, set for release at the top of 2016 via Mom + Pop, but North American fans don't need to wait much longer to hear what the fun-loving four-piece has up their sleeves as they kick off a tour tomorrow in the U.S. and Canada. To celebrate the tour - which sees Hinds headlining shows with Public Access T.V. and supporting Glass Animals before they head back to Europe for Pitchfork Paris and Iceland Airwaves - the band shares a new, double music video/short-film for their cover of "Davey Crockett" and The Parrots' cover of "All My Loving," which was released earlier this year as a split 7in. Directed by Marc Oller and produced by CANADA, PRESS HERE to watch the genius music video now, exclusively via Pitchfork.

Hinds and The Parrots spoke to Pitchfork about the making of the video:

we are 7 dudes born and raised in madrid and we've been friends since ever; we've lived from our puberty years to currently issues like not having money to pay the rent or recoding our firsts albums. we did a split 7'' vinyl with BURGER RECORDS with two covers of songs we both usually end our gigs with because we love them. so suddenly the idea of shooting a movie with CANADA (our music-videos-educator) was kind of a dream. plus, this one is the first not-home-made-music-video for both bands. Felt great. But keep the budget low.

Since bursting onto the DIY scene last summer, Hinds have mastered a raw and playful sound all their own. Leave Me Alone - twelve perfectly imperfect and charmingly lo-fi tracks inspired by contemporary American garage rockers like Mac DeMarco, Ty Segall and The Black Lips - serves as the perfect introduction to the Spanish quartet who are pioneering the burgeoning indie music scene in Madrid.Hinds, with only a handful of songs released, have already earned early support from Apple Music's Beats 1, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, The FADER, Gorilla vs. Bear, BBC Radio, and more. Now with their debut on the horizon, Hinds are firmly establishing themselves as one of the most exciting emerging acts of the year and show no sign of slowing down.

Leave Me Alone will not arrive until early next year, so Hinds will have a six-track tour EP on the road with them entitled Very Best of Hinds so Far which features "Davey Crockett." PRESS HERE to purchase the EP digitally now or pre-order the white vinyls which will be available on October 9th.

Hinds are: Ana Perrote, Carlotta Cosials, Ade Martin and Amber Grimbergen.
