Press Quotes:

"Summoning the 1980s Minneapolis funk of Prince and Janet Jackson." - The New York Times
"The big-haired bass player from across the lake has a funky, electro-pop sound" - Vibe
"Catchy, funk-sizzled electro-pop, great hair, and [a] penchant for working a bass like a Robert Palmer girl."  - Noisey

Valentine’s Day is this week and it also happens to be Maya Vik’s birthday. To celebrate, she has a present for you from her upcoming yet untitled album. Produced by Pat Lukens, “Totally Right” is a feel good love song that digs deep into the candy jar of late 80s Jam & Lewis era R&B and emerges with enough sunshine to power a small city. So bust out of your winter funk, check your temperature for spring fever, and enjoy this new song because Maya Vik is here and everything is going to be totally right.

‘Music to make babies to’ is just one way to describe the sound of Norwegian bass player and solo artist Maya Vik.  Although the press have drawn comparisons to Prince, Janet, Sheila E, and Vanity 6, Maya lays down a fresh brand of sexy electronic funk pop with her steamy vocals and thumping bass lines.  Years of hard work has paid off for Maya which includes winning a Norwegian “Grammy” with her previous band Montée, playing in Savoy with a-Ha’s Paul Waaktaar, opening for Lenny Kravitz, and touring the US, Japan, Russia, Holland, and Germany with her own trio.  After independently releasing more than two albums worth of critically acclaimed material in two short years, Maya Vik currently is sitting on a trove of new jams set for release throughout 2014.
