JOSH HOMME-PRODUCED BONUS TRACKS STREAMING NOW

NORTH AMERICAN TOUR KICKS OFF JUNE 19
The Hives' highly-anticipated new album Lex Hives is due out next week, and in celebration, the album is streaming in its entirety at The New Yorker as well as on the band's Facebook page. In addition, the band has unveiled two bonus tracks produced and recorded by Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age): "Insane" is streaming at RollingStone, and "High School Shuffle" is streaming at RCRDLBL. Both tracks are available on the Deluxe Edition of Lex Hives, which is now available to pre-order on iTunes.
Watch The Hives discuss each track from Lex Hives at Paste Magazine:
Due out June 5 via the band's own Disques Hives, the album is receiving overwhelming worldwide acclaim. NME declares "Let it be said, Lex Hives is amazing," and Q Magazine's 4-star review asserts "Lex Hives fizzes with the energy of a debut album, the quintet emphatically back to what they do best." The Toronto Sun
praises "a mighty half-hour of slashing guitars, crashing drums - and
plenty of neo-Jagger swagger from Howlin' Pelle. Lex is more." The
Hives recently returned to Later...with Jools Holland where they performed their hit single "Go Right Ahead."
The band is gearing upfora
North American tour that kicks off June 19 in Washington, D.C. A more
extensive U.S. headlining tour is in the works for this Fall and
includes a stop in Denver on September 16 for a KTCL radio show at Red
Rocks alongside Silversun Pickups. Further details to come.
The Hives are Howlin' Pelle Almqvist, Nicholaus Arson, Chris Dangerous, Dr. Matt Destruction, and Vigilante Carlstroem.

CocoRosie "We Are On Fire"
Here's the new single from CocoRosie, it's a stand-alone single on Touch & Go and produced by Dave Sitek.
CocoRosie - We Are On Fire (Single)
Street Date, June 5th, 2012, Touch and Go
The
single was recorded with David Sitek in Los Angeles this past Winter.
CocoRosie also recorded early in the spring of 2012 with Antony Hegarty
at their home studio in Brooklyn. Antony Hegarty sings on "Tearz For
Animals."
CocoRosie's thoughts on the recording sessions:
"Working with Dave is a creative exorcism -musical kinship without boundary."
The "We Are On Fire" artwork marks the first collaboration between artist Jesse Hazelip and Bianca (aka Twin Rivers). The "Tearz For Animals" art work came from a prison exchange project; drawings from the inside, between friends, as a means to hope.

Sierra produced the skeleton for an industrial opera 2011-2012
Bianca developed the script for her ballet during 2011-2012
Bianca Casady appeared in the Moscow Biennale 2011
CocoRosie appeared in the Marrakech Biennale 2012
CocoRosie toured Asia 2011

King Tuff’s self-titled follow up is out today on CD, LP and digital formats. To celebrate the release, he’s unleashed the first video for the album’s lead single, “Bad Thing” via YouTube. The clip, directed by C. Thornhill Dewitt, stars King Tuff along with a group of friends who visit a haunted house. Chaos (+hilarity) ensues.
King Tuff will kick off a headline tour to support the release that begins on May 31st in Visalia, CA at Cellar Door and wraps up on July 14th in Cleveland, OH at Now That's Class. King Tuff will also make an appearance at St. Louis, MO's Lou Fest on August 25th.
King Tuff will also join labelmates Jaill for a co-headline tour beginning July 17th
in Minneapolis, MN at the Triple Rock Social Club and wrap up on July 28 in San Diego, CA at the Soda Bar. On July 26th, the pairing will also visit Seattle's 16th annual Capitol Hill Block Party.
In related news King Tuff was the #1 most added album at CMJ last week. The LP is also #2 album on FMQB Sub Modern commercial specialty chart.
What people are saying about King Tuff:
“King Tuff is full of fizzy melody and leering guitar, and graced with lush, detailed production. The whole thing sounds as if it were made by a Marc Bolan more into baseball caps than feather boas.” – SPIN
“There's the too-appropriately-titled opener "Anthem", carried by a double-neck lead begging to be greeted with devil horn gestures. There's the Lynyrd Skynyrd-esque boogie of "Stranger", the freewheeling and fun "Baby Just Break", and climactic closer "Hit & Run". Album highlight "Bad Thing" is Hunx's Hairdresser Blues spiked with brown liquor, equipped with a supercharged chorus.” - Pitchfork
“With a bluesy swagger and thick reverb gloss, Thomas pays loving homage to T. Rex and retro glam bands; despite the long hair, sunglasses, black denim, stud lettering, thrift-store accessories, sports jerseys, and spandex, he isn’t going for parody or novelty. King Tuff bops and boogies to simple, raw melodies, a throwback to a time when people actually danced to guitar-driven songs.” – The Onion AV Club

Soulsavers "The Light The Dead See"
‘A perfect pairing... absolutely beautiful.’ 8/10 – NME
'Heavyweight Soul' 4/5 - Mojo
‘an exciting meeting of troubled minds’ – All Music Guide
Soulsavers’ latest album, The Light The Dead See is out NOW
via Mute. Recorded at various locations across the globe and mastered
at Abbey Road, this is the follow up to 2009’s critically acclaimed
album Broken, with collaboration from Dave Gahan. You can currently
stream the album in it’s entirety on the band’s website and view the first of a four part interview series here. Purchase your copy on CD or download. LP format has been delayed a few weeks.
The Light The Dead See Track Listing:
1. La Ribera
2. In The Morning
3. Longest Day
4. Presence of God
5. Just Try
6. Gone Too Far
7. Point Sur Pt.1
8. Take Me Back Home
9. Bitterman
10. I Can't Say
11. Take
12. Tonight
Venturing out from the studio to the road, Soulsavers were invited to support Depeche Mode on the European leg of the band’s vast 2010 Tour of the Universe. Here, the seeds of The Light The Dead See
were sewn. With Gahan penning lyrics for the music and recording his
own vocals in New York, then Machin building up the results into
fully-formed and arranged epics, the international project was a case
of “chemistry working”. The album was mastered at Abbey Road earlier
this year.
“There was no real script,” says the Rich Machin of the extraordinary fourth album The Light The Dead See,
a set of songs of majesty and momentum. “It just rolled and rolled; it
was effortless.” Joining forces with Dave Gahan it immediately became
clear that this was going to be something very special. “We realized we
were coming from the same place in so many ways,” adds Machin. “He’s
really laid himself bare on this record, his contribution is
astonishing.” Says Gahan, “Everything about it was relatively
unplanned, surprising: a magical thing. We were a perfect match and I’m
very, very excited about this record.”
Soulsavers – the music and production team of Rich Machin and Ian Glover – have been a growing force since 2003’s debut Tough Guys Don’t Dance. 2007’s It’s Not How Far You Fall, It’s The Way You Land
brought their dark flair to a wider audience. The inimitable Mark
Lanegan served as primary singer, though there were also vocal
contributions from Will Oldham and Jimi Goodwin. In 2009, third album Broken
confirmed that Soulsavers were moving away from early electronica to
earthier guitars, use of space and what Machin described as “a soulful
twist.” Lanegan again led the vocals on stand-outs such as ‘You Will
Miss Me When I Burn’ and ‘All The Way Down’, with other guest vocalists
including Oldham again, Jason Pierce, Richard Hawley, Mike Patton and
Gibby Haynes. Clearly, there was no shortage of acclai med singers
ready to lend their lungs to Soulsavers’ stirring, seductive, soothing
or startling creations.

Decibel Festival 2012
The Decibel International Festival announces the lineup for their 9th annual festival in Seattle, Washington, September 26 - 30, 2012
The 9th annual Decibel International Festival of Electronic Music Performance, Visual Art and New Media has been announced, featuring headliners Kimbra, Carl Craig, Matthew Dear, Fennesz, John Talabot, Ariel Pink, and Actress, Nina Kraviz, and Baths.
In addition to the headlining acts above, the festival will feature such heavy-hitters as Dragonette, Emancipator, and Yppah. Click here for the first 60 musical acts announced.
Following the “artist a day” approach, the rest of the musical lineup (60 more acts out of 120) will be announced on June 27 with the entire program of educational programs, film festival, after-parties and boat-parties announced on July 11th. To reward attendees who purchase passes early, tickets will be discounted by 25% through June 26th.
Please visit The Decibel Festival website for more information and to purchase tickets.
In year nine, The Decibel International Festival of Electronic Music Performance, Visual Art and New Media is quickly becoming the SXSW of the swelling cultural phenomena that is electronic music. The Seattle based festival expects to hit 30k attendees this year with over 170 artists from 19 different countries, plus 72 educational speakers, making Decibel Festival an oracle for the growth of the entire international electronic music scene. The entire festival takes place over a five day period at over 14 venues in Seattle, Washington.
NOTE FROM THE DECIBEL FESTIVAL CURATOR AND CREATIVE DIRECTOR
In 2003, I founded Decibel Festival with the mission to redefine underground electronic music and visual art as a unified performance medium, while establishing the Pacific Northwest as a vital hub for electronic music culture in the United States. At the time, "laptop performance" was still shrouded in mystery and most electronic music performance consisted of turntables, CDJs, and a mixer. Electronic music in America had receded from the rave boom back to small communities of loyalists caring more about the music itself than its potential to generate revenue or fan base. This has been the community that has supported Decibel from day one and I'm thrilled they are still at the heart of Decibel today.
Fast forward to 10 years and electronic music is pervasive in nearly every facet of mainstream American culture and we continue to have mixed emotions regarding this surge. As avid supporters, performers, producers, and fans of electronic music for over 20 years, we can't help but feel nostalgic for a time when underground warehouse parties and independent record stores were the predominant outlet for electronic music discovery.
As much as the digital age has brought many advantages, it's important to remember how we got here and what it means. It's a balance between technology and creativity; innovation and nostalgia; popularity and obscurity. With each year I hope to build a program that encompasses all of these elements while retaining the integrity of a festival known for pushing the boundaries of both art and science.
Looking at our continued growth from our inaugural festival of 2,500 attendees in 2004 to 23,000+ attendees in 2011, I am faced with the challenge of assembling a compelling program that captures our past, present, and future. Although we're only mid-way through announcing this year’s line-up, I believe that 2012 will be our most ambitious program. Based on the initial list of artists below we already have our most diverse program to date. This includes a strong international presence with 19 countries represented as well as 25% of the line-up featuring female artists, which is a historically high number based on other electronic music festivals. In addition, Decibel is continuing to embrace a wide spectrum of genres, venues, and activities designed to entertain, educate, and inspire attendees regardless of age or background. 2012 festival pass holders will be treated to 34 audio/visual showcases, an outdoor event, a three-day conference, and a film festival. In addition, Decibel will be co-curating and co-producing eight after-parties and five boat-parties, none of which will conflict with the festival schedule. As you begin to look at what we have in store this year, I encourage you all to dig deep into our new website and explore a festival filled with discovery, decadence, beauty, emotion, and unbridled entertainment start to finish.
Much more to come. Hope to see you in September!
