FFS (Franz Ferdinand + Sparks): Live Stream Minneapolis Show via Yahoo! on Oct 9th

Watch Live Broadcast of Minneapolis Show via Yahoo! on October 9 @ 11pm ET

On U.S. Tour Now
"The live show takes it to another level. FFS are a six-headed, hook-laden groove machine with two frontmen (the raven-haired, black kaftan-wearing Russell Mael and the kung fu-kicking, archly posing, eyebrow-rocketing Alex Kapranos), bass, drums and guitar." -
The Guardian

"The music they make in alliance has a new, third identity, something neither side could achieve alone... They fully enforce the validity of their new project, while sprinkling in three of each band's hits." - Mojo

"As individual artists they've both hit the heights - but together? Quite simply they take each other's tracks to another level." - The Independent
FFS - the collaboration between Franz Ferdinand and Sparks - have already impressed music fans overseas during their European live dates.  The band is currently on their U.S. tour in support of their self-titled album.  Yahoo! will live stream their performance in Minneapolis on October 9th at 11pm ET. Watch the performance @https://screen.yahoo.com/live/event/franz-ferdinand-sparks

During each live show, FFS performs hits from both bands as well as their new material from FFS. FFS is out now and features different degrees of collaboration, but the end result is pure FFS. PRESS HERE to get a glimpse of their live performance.

On US Tour + Playing CMJ Festival Next Week

New EP UMi Out Now

"Foy's songs are both lush and low-key, intimate and surprisingly intricate. She layers beats generously but carefully, alternating between buoyant and bittersweet" Pitchfork

"it's gentle, delicate stuff somewhere between folk and dream pop."—Brooklyn Vegan

Lyla Foy has premiered her ethereal new video for 'River' exclusively on Brooklyn Vegan. Foy described the concept of the video: "In a perfect world my music would always be heard with a visual element, especially film or something animated. We wanted to make a minimal but beautiful moving image which would enhance the song without crushing your imagination.".

It's a timely release as she's now on her US tour, which includes an appearance at CMJ Music Festival on Saturday the 17th for Flower Bookings showcase. The new EP UMi spans between the atmospheric He IsLost  and River to the rousing musical arrangements and expectant melodies of Glow In The Dark andTiger to create a detailed insight into Lyla's new material.

UMi is an abbreviation of Ursa Minor, a constellation in the northern sky also known as Smaller She-Bear or Little Bear. The collection of songs reflects night time and is a direct contrast to Lyla's Sub-Pop debutMirrors The Sky, released in March 2014, whose image is daytime and daylight. The EP will be released digitally on 2nd October and vinyl copies, featuring an exclusive bonus track Blue Door.

OMNIVORE RECORDINGS TO REISSUE SAM AMIDON’S BUT THIS CHICKEN PROVED FALSEHEARTED ON DECEMBER 4

AMIDON’S OUT-OF-PRINT 2007 DEBUT OFFERED FOR
FIRST TIME ON VINYL; CD REISSUE INCLUDES 10 BONUS TRACKS FROM ORIGINAL RECORDING SESSION

US TOUR DATES WITH NELS CLINE AND SAN FERMIN

Los Angeles — October 6, 2015 — Omnivore Recordings is pleased to announce the reissue of singer and multi-instrumentalist Sam Amidon’s debut recording But This Chicken Proved Falsehearted. Originally released in 2007, the long out-of-print debut body of work will now be available on CD and digital, and for the first time, on vinyl, on Dec. 4. The CD and digital format include 10 bonus tracks recorded during the original session. The initial vinyl pressing is available in limited quantities on translucent blue
vinyl, with black vinyl to follow. All LPs include a download of the complete offering of original and bonus tracks.

Recorded in 2005 at Amidon’s then-home in Harlem, NY, with friend and collaborator Thomas Bartlett (aka Doveman), But This Chicken Proved Falsehearted introduced the world to Amidon’s unique talents as a composer/arranger, singer and musician; talents which have, in recent years, garnered praise from The New York TimesThe GuardianNPR and more. But This Chicken… features Amidon’s reimaginings of traditional American folksongs as well as a diverse array of covers, including Tears for Fears “Head Over Heels” and Mississippi John Hurt’s “Louis Collins.”

“At night I would drink whiskey and record solo versions of the songs onto a Pro Tools setup (Thomas and I) were borrowing from a friend, and which neither of us really knew how to use,” Amidon said. “The final vocal and guitar take was generally the one where I got through the whole song without messing up the guitar part. Then Thomas would come home late, wake up the next day and tell me to go take a long walk. I would walk out into the park for an hour or two and come back to find what he had added.”

“This is an album of total discovery,” Amidon added. “Every sound is being played for the first time. It reflects both the solitude of that particular time and our musical collaboration in a moment of great change.”

Amidon plays a series of US tour dates, first with the influential American guitarist Nels Cline and then with the chamber pop ensemble San Fermin. A complete list of tour dates follows.

One Way Street

A vinyl box set featuring his
first five solo albums
available worldwide on November 20th

One Way Street
 housed in an embossed, faux-leather

Beginner’s Guide To Mark Lanegan

 http://u.subpop.com/1jB7DLi

We’re pleased to share details on behalf of Mark Lanegan’s One Way Street, a vinyl box set which compiles the first five solo albums from the Pacific Northwest icon (who is also known for his work with Screaming Trees, Gutter Twins, Mad Season, Queens of the Stone Age, Isobel Campbell, and more). The One Way Street set will be available on 5xLP / DL worldwide November 20th from Sub Pop.

All five Mark Lanegan titles have been out-of-print or unreleased on vinyl:  The Winding Sheet, Whiskey for the Holy Ghost, andScraps at Midnight have been out of print on vinyl for many years;I’ll Take Care of You was only released on vinyl in Europe, andField Songs was only issued on CD.

Each album in the One Way Street box set were cut from new lacquers and pressed on 180-gram vinyl, and is housed in a sleeve reproducing the art for its original release. The entire set comes packaged in a faux-leather box. One Way Street is now available for pre-order from Sub Pop Mega Mart.

As a solo artist, Mark Lanegan built a devoted following, slowly releasing records that highlighted his love for singer/songwriters, and American folk and blues. His love for the rich history of American contemporary music was showcased throughout these five remarkable efforts: The Winding Sheet (1990), Whiskey for the Holy Ghost (1994), Scraps at Midnight (1998), I’ll Take Care of You (1999) and Field Songs (2001). And let’s not forget that voice! Trying to describe the power of Mark’s voice is not an easy task, but to paraphrase Fred Neil, he sure can sing the shit out of a song.

Mark Lanegan also collaborated regularly with Mike Johnson (Dinosaur Jr.), a multi-instrumentalist known for his understated yet incredible guitar work, who co-wrote, arranged and co-produced some of the early records and various songs from the discography.

Mark Lanegan has a a few international live dates to mention at this time: October 3rd in Seattle, WA at the Macefield Festival; And October 30th in London’s Barbican for ‘Love And Other Crimes: The Songs Of Lee Hazlewood’ tribute event.

About the Mark Lanegan Sub Pop Discography:

The Winding Sheet (SP61 / May 1, 1990)
The Winding Sheet is Lanegan's first solo work and showcases his adept skills as a lyricist and his deep, soulful voice. Highlights include "Mockingbirds," "Ugly Sunday" and the haunting "Wild Flowers." The late Kurt Cobain lends vocals to  "Down in the Dark," and for the folk classic "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" Cobain contributes guitar and vocals and Krist Novoselic plays bass. Nirvana would later also cover "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" on their Unplugged album. The album was produced by Jack Endino, Lanegan, and Johnson.

Tracklist: 1. “Mockingbirds” / 2. “Museum” / 3. “Undertow” / 4. “Ugly Sunday” / 5. “Down in the Dark” / 6. “Wild Flowers” / 7. “Eyes of a Child”  / 8. “The Winding Sheet” / 9. “Woe” / 10. “Ten Feet Tall” / 11. “Where Did You Sleep Last Night” / 12. “Juarez” / 13. “I Love You Little Girl”

Whiskey for the Holy Ghost (SP132 / January 18, 1994)
Whiskey for the Holy Ghost is the second solo album from Lanegan, and builds upon the roots music foundation that he had established with his debut The Winding Sheet. Released during the grunge explosion of the early 1990s, Whiskey for the Holy Ghost showcases Lanegan's growing maturity as a songwriter and vocalist. Lyrically, Lanegan continues to delve into the darker side of the human experience on songs like "Borracho" and the biblical "Pendulum.” "House a Home" was released as a single with an accompanying video. Dan Peters of Mudhoney guests on the album, playing drums on the songs "Borracho" and "House a Home."

Tracklist: 1. “The River Rise” / 2. “Borracho” / 3. “House a Home” / 4. “Kingdoms of Rain” / 5. “Carnival” / 6. “Riding the Nightingale” / 7. “El Sol” / 8. “Dead on You” / 9. “Shooting Gallery” / 10. “Sunrise” / 11. “Pendulum” / 12. “Judas Touch” / 13. “Beggar’s Blues”

Scraps at Midnight (SP419 / July 21, 1998):
Scraps at Midnight is the third solo album by Lanegan, which he co-produced with longtime collaborator Johnson. Scraps at Midnight could arguably be considered the final installment of a trilogy of albums (preceded by The Winding Sheet and Whiskey for the Holy Ghost) which feature the songwriter's interpretation of American roots music set to troubling lyrics that explore themes of loss, sin and redemption.

Tracklist: 1. “Hospital Roll Call” / 2. “Hotel” / 3. “Stay” / 4. “Bell Black Ocean” / 5. “Last One in the World” / 6.
“Praying Ground“ / 7. “Wheels” / 8. “Waiting on a Train” / 9. “Day and Night” / 10. “Because of This”

I’ll Take Care of You (SP445 / September 21, 1999):
For I’ll Take Care of You, his fourth solo album, Lanegan chose to cover songs by artists who have influenced and inspired him over the years, including Jeffrey Lee Pierce of the Gun Club, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Buck Owens, Leaving Trains, O.V. Wright, Fred Neil, Tim Hardin, Tim Rose, and more.

Tracklist: 1. "Carry Home"  (Jeffrey Lee Pierce) / 2. "I'll Take Care of You"  (Brook Benton) / 3. "Shiloh Town" (Tim Hardin) / 4. "Creeping Coastline of Lights" (Leaving Trains) / 5. "Badi-Da" (Fred Neil) / 6. "Consider Me" (Eddie Floyd, Booker T. Jones) / 7. "On Jesus' Program" (Overton Vertis Wright) / 8. "Little Sadie" (Traditional) / 9. "Together Again" (Buck Owens) / 10. "Shanty Man's Life" (Stephen Harrison Paulus) / 11. "Boogie Boogie" (Tim Rose)

Field Songs (SP502 / May 8, 2001):
Field Songs is his fifth solo and final studio album for Sub Pop. Lanegan seems to have gone back through all his previous work, and taken the best elements from each to create one of the most fulfilled, and fulfilling, albums of his career; a demonstration of his continued love of singer/songwriters and American folk and blues.Field Songs also includes the song "Kimiko’s Dream House,” which Mark co-wrote with Jeffrey Lee Pierce of Gun Club fame.

Tracklist: 1. "One Way Street" /  2. "No Easy Action" (feat. Wendy Rae Fowler) / 3. "Miracle" / 4. "Pill Hill Serenade" / 5. "Don't Forget Me" / 6. "Kimiko's Dream House" / 7. "Resurrection Song" / 8. "Field Song" / 9. "Low" / 10. "Blues for D" / 11. "She Done Too Much" / 12. "Fix" (feat. Duff McKagan)

London-Based Singer-Songwriter Beans On Toast To Release "Rolling Up The Hill" On December 1

LONDON-BASED SINGER-SONGWRITER BEANS ON TOAST ANNOUNCES
BRAND NEW FULL-LENGTH ALBUM
 TITLED ROLLING UP THE HILL
CURRENTLY MAKING U.S. APPEARANCES SUPPORTING FRANK TURNER
ROLLING UP THE HILL AVAILABLE IN STORES AND ONLINE
VIA XTRA MILE RECORDINGS ON DECEMBER 1
"Cult legend and all round hero" - Louder Than War
"Behind the humour, there are serious political messages of equality and general
respect for one another." - Clash
"Beans is all about the connection. It's all about getting across simple but lost messages that we should be good and honest to each other and find value in what
is really important." - Musos Guide
from Rolling Up The Hill

Rolling Up The Hill, the new album from seasoned London-based singer-songwriter Beans on Toast, is his most creative record to date and it's an album all about friendship, travel and art. It's also about drinking, protesting and growing older in these strange modern times. The first track lifted from the album is "The Great American Novel," Beans' love letter to America. Watch the video HERE

Photo: Jem Mitchel

His seventh studio album in the same amount of years will be released as usual on his birthday,December 1, via Xtra Mile Recordings (Frank TurnerAgainst Me!Mineral). Rolling Up The Hill(pre-order) was recorded this past August in Kansas with husband and wife country duo Truckstop Honeymoon. Beans met the duo at Larmer Tree festival last year, and after hanging out and playing some shows with them in New Orleans they hatched a plan to go to The Ninth Ward Picking Parlour in Lawrence, KS to make an album together. The duo brings together double bass, mandolin and finger-picking sounds to Beans on Toast's unique and signature art of songwriting. Of course, though, they were joined by longtime partner in crime Bobby Banjo, on harp and banjo for the sessions. Throw in a couple of Kansas players dropping in some horns and some drums and you've got a Beans on Toast album that is fresh, fun and exciting while at the same time not losing any of the original cheap and easy English attitude that has gotten him to where he is today.

Ten years in the game and Beans has built up something of an underground following around the world, and is now filling out festival fields and tents on the UK circuit along with constantly touring new and foreign land. This year alone he's played shows on rooftops in Cape Town, tropical islands in the Barbados, folk festivals in Canada and covered over 10,000 miles in the U.S. He also toured the fringes on the UK in the wake of the terrible result at this year's election, taking in the mood of the country by visiting Harlow, Preston, Chester and the like. He has, of course, written songs all about these travels.

As usual Beans on Toast made the album he wanted to make, an album with no rules and no one to impress - just simple, opinionated songs about honest subjects.

Beans on Toast will be making the following North American appearances, both solo and supportingFrank Turner. Tour dates below.
