Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith shares "You Already Know - Pivot Signal Rework (Feat. Johan Lenox)" |
"Her most joyous music yet." - MOJO Magazine, #7 Best Electronica Album of The Year "It's a leap into the unknown, and her excitement is infectious." - Pitchfork (7.6) "Glistening arpeggios and heavenly vocals." - The Guardian, Contemporary Album of The Month "An impressive and surprising display of musical dexterity." - Bandcamp, Album of The Day "Armed with homemade vocal processing and a new ear for bright, mischievous sounds, the synth wizard presents her weirdest, most vibrant work yet." - Resident Advisor "There are flashes of gold here, there, and everywhere. Compositions that other artists might latch on to and stretch out for an entire career vanish in the blink of an eye." - The Quietus "The ever-productive electronic musician never ceases to amaze." - Clash Magazine "Pivot Signal," one of Let's Turn It Into Sound's most adventurous stretches of symphonic sound design, serves as the foundation for an entirely new vocal composition. Lenox's soulful verses bounce along the bright instrumentation, confirming Smith’s sense for orchestral production can flourish in more conventional pop frameworks as well. Let's Turn It Into Sound Remixes is out as a digital EP on February 24, 2023. 01. Have You Felt Lately (Brijean Remix) 02. You Already Know - Pivot Signal Rework (Feat. Johan Lenox) 03. Her music is a form of auditory interpretation, powered by curiosity and her toolkit of modular, analogue, and rare synthesizers (including her signature Buchla), orchestral textures, and voice. Since her first self-releases in 2012, she has explored the endless possibilities of electronic instruments and the relationship between sound, shape, color, body movement, and expression. Spanning releases on Western Vinyl, RVNG Intl., Ghostly International, and her own multidisciplinary project, Touchtheplants, her work has drawn acclaim from all reaches of the experimental music world, including NPR, The New York Times, The Wire, and Rolling Stone. The latter named Smith's 2017 LP The Kid their avant-garde album of the year. Her collaborations include projects with Danny Elfman, Emile Mosseri, Suzanne Ciani, and commissions for Apple, BBC Orchestra, Epcot Center, Google, and others. With Let's Turn It Into Sound, her latest album on Ghostly, Smith moves through vibrant avant-pop and neoclassical songcraft, expressing a feeling that words alone cannot.
