Roky Erickson, an heroic icon of modern rock & roll and one of the best friends the music ever had, died in Austin, Texas today. Born there on July 15, 1947, Erickson had a visionary zeal rarely seen in 1965 when he co-founded the 13th Floor Elevators. The band's original songs, many written with lyricist Tommy Hall, coupled with Erickson's super-charged vocals and guitar sparked the psychedelic music revolution in the mid-1960s, and led to a new role of what rock could be. Erickson never wavered from that path, and while he faced incredible challenges at different points in his life, his courage always led him on to new musical adventures, one he continued without compromise his entire life. The family asks for privacy while they deal with the loss of a son, brother, husband and father.

Alison Mosshart Announces New Book CAR MA
Alison Mosshart Announces CAR MA
Compendium Of Art, Photography & Writing To Be Published in June via Hells Angles & FF-1051 Gallery
Lead vocalist with The Kills and The Dead Weather, Alison Mosshart has spent the last 26 years on the road performing and living a predominantly transitory life. The daughter of a used car salesman, Mosshart grew up with a vivid appreciation for classic cars; for being behind the wheel and in the passenger seat. In the early days of The Kills they kept the band to a duo in order that they could tour America by car and throughout her life she has recorded her existence on the road with photography and journals.
CAR MA, is a 112 page love letter to the motorcar, and - more specifically - the perceptivity gained from a life spent relishing them. Already renowned as a lyricist, Mosshart's reputation in the art world has been growing over the past few years as galleries in New York, London and Los Angeles have staged exhibitions of her paintings. CAR MA includes some of these along with hundreds of photographs she's taken along the way. Her prose is electric, inspired by the images she was collating for the book, it provides a narrative to the anthology; a first person walk through Alison's journals as she details memories, places, conversations, relationships, journeys and - of course - cars.
Mosshart imagines the auto body shop like some other Coney Island. And America's highways the last great roller coasters. She shows us that the engine on fire is connected to the guitar feeding back since birth. And the sensation of walking on stage and facing an audience is like the laugh before the scream in a car without brakes. She ruminates that automobiles- with their doors and mirrors and windows, engines and wheels and radios- portray us. Mirror our need to be in or to exit, our inward reflections and outward visions, our lifetimes of tinkering with the mysterious heart. That which runs until it doesn't. Throughout history the car has been a symbol of freedom and hopeful adventure. It stands to reason it is also a symbol of our subsequent spinning out... over things we never thought could happen during a song that f'king good with the volume up that f'king loud.
If you've ever found yourself feeling holy, pulling out of the gas station with a full tank, like the last beautiful free soul on this planet, this book is for you. In fact it's probably about you.
CAR MA will be available from Dover Street Market. First edition is a limited edition run of 500 copies. Retail $50.00
ABOUT ALISON MOSSHART
Born in Vero Beach, FL, Mosshart pursued art from an early age. The daughter of a high school art teacher and a used car dealer, she had an early passion for painting, cars, and music. As a teenager she joined a punk band and began touring at the age of 14. Mosshart continuously made art, took photographs and kept extensive journals on tour, inspired by the constant change of scene and bewildering pace from one city and country to the next. The disjointed yo-yo of life on the road, adrenaline spikes and comedowns, the many bizarre or bad, boring or blissful moments, are manifest in her impulsive painting style and subject matter. Mosshart studied fine art at the University of Florida, Gainesville, between tours, concentrating on printmaking, photography, video, collage and drawing. Dropping out in 2000 to move to London to start The Kills, she continued her studies for a semester at various London art schools. As well as fronting both The Kills and The Dead Weather, she has appeared as a special guest on recordings by the Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, Cage The Elephant, Primal Scream, Placebo, The Last Shadow Puppets and Gang Of Four.

STILL ILL Mini-Doc Live HERE
STILL ILL Mini-Doc Live HERE
Debuting at #1 upon its May 1994 release, Beastie Boys’ fourth album was an unstoppable force, pervading every aspect of pop culture. Its charge to the top of the charts was led by “Sabotage” and its legendary Spike Jonze/Nathanial Hornblower ’70s TV police drama tribute, as ROLLING STONE dubbed Ill Communication 1994’s “soundtrack for summer.” Crowds and critics alike were floored by highlights “Sure Shot,” “Root Down” and “Get It Together,” as a VIBE (RIP)—in the magazine’s first cover story on a white artist–hailed Beastie Boys as “perhaps the most consistently innovative musicians to emerge out of hip hop.” It was a claim that Ill Communication has justified for years to come, and 25 years later Ill Communication’s impact has resounded with generation after generation.
Surviving members Adam “Adrock” Horovitz and Michael “Mike D” Diamond sat down and reflected on the making of the album with Amazon Music’s Nathan Brackett.
The documentary also features archival footage and commentary from musical collaborators Mario Caldato Jr. and “Money” Mark Nishita.

NEW YORK, NY – MAY 31, 2019 – Phantogram are officially back! Today, the duo returns with their new single “Into Happiness”—listen and share HERE.
Announcing their return, Phantogram wrote a special letter to fans, noting about the song that it “embodies the personal journey that both of us have taken since we released Three; it’s been a long path, coming out of the darkness and into the light.”
“Into Happiness” is Phantogram’s first release in three years since their 2016 chart-topping and career-defining album, Three, which featured lead single “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore.” In celebration of this new chapter for the band, they will be touring North America this summer, kicking off on August 16th in Reno, NV and making stops at New York’s King Theater on September 5th, Washington, D.C.’s The Anthem on September 6th, Atlanta’s Tabernacle on September 9th and more, as well as playing festival sets at Life Is Beautiful, Hopscotch Music Festival and others. The full list of tour dates can be found below, and tickets are available now at phantogram.com. Stay tuned for more from Phantogram!
Phantogram – the New York duo of Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel— has continued to change the zeitgeist for almost a decade by consistently challenging it with their signature blend of hard-hitting beats, guitar-driven dark psychedelia, and electronic pop. Since the arrival of 2010’s Barsuk Records debut release Eyelid Movies, the pair has amassed nearly half-a-billion streams, achieved two Gold-Certified singles in the form of “Fall In Love” and “When I’m Small,” headlined sold out shows worldwide, become a festival staple, and toured with artists including The xx, Muse, M83, Alt-J and more.
Their 2016 third full-length, Three, reached career-high positions on the Billboard Top 200 chart (#9) and Billboard Top Albums Sales chart (#5), as the lead single “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore” climbed the alternative radio charts. The album was also met with critical acclaim from Pitchfork, Billboard, The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, People, Vogue, New York Magazine, The FADER, Stereogum, NYLON, PAPER and many others.
Three was completed in the wake of Barthel’s sister’s passing due to suicide, a shattering event which brought suicide prevention awareness to the forefront of the band’s consciousness and has informed their charitable giving and community outreach ever since, thus their decision to donate a portion of ticket sales to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. One dollar from the purchase of each ticket to their upcoming headline performances will be donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Today, avant-garde, self-made audiovisual pioneer ionnalee (Jonna Lee of iamamiwhoami)releases her sophomore solo album, REMEMBER THE FUTURE, via her label To whom it may concern. Listen to the album, which premiered via Nylon, in full HERE!
ionnalee shared, "I am really proud of this album. Writing and producing it last year was a playful and spontaneous process, quite different from any of the seven albums I've made. I've been exploring sounds, harmonies and frequencies without prestige or set deadlines, letting my mind and body wander freely and experience music like I did when I was a kid. I made the album with aim to be a small beacon of light for my nearest ones who are currently struggling to look forward, and as a reminder to those who follow my work to remember the dream."
REMEMBER THE FUTURE is produced by ionnalee, and also features production contributions from Röyksopp and her longtime collaborator Claes Björklund (iamamiwhoami), and is mixed by Johannes Berglund (Fever Ray). Plus, the album features guest vocalists Zola Jesus and Jennie Abrahamson.
The Swedish singer, songwriter, producer, and director announced the album via Brooklyn Vegan, and Billboard exclusively premiered the lead single, lush disco track "Open Sea," which was followed by hypnotic second single "Some Body."
REMEMBER THE FUTURE is ionnalee's seventh musical album released across the past decade of her audiovisual projects, in addition to two online live concert installations, earning a total of 57 million views on YouTube to date. Before launching her solo project as ionnalee, Lee spent almost a decade captivating and disturbing the music industry through the viral mixed media project and audiovisual mystery iamamiwhoami.
Beyond her solo work, ionnalee recently remixed Moby's single "The ceremony of innocence," as well as being the masthead of Röyksopp's live shows for the past four years including performing as part of their acclaimed show at Coachella 2017. Watch her recent performance on Swedish National TV as part of an Avicii remembrance, HERE. She released her first solo album and feature film, in 2018 and followed the album with a world tour funded through Kickstarter in just 5 days. The hugely successful tour sold out dates across Europe, US, and Latin America, and was followed by a recently completed North American tour supported by Allie X in anticipation of REMEMBER THE FUTURE.
