EARLY PRESS ON LOLO ZOUAÏ
"Don't be fooled by the of-the-moment pop sound: The 24-year-old singer's debut album is the showcase for a refreshingly original perspective....High Highs to Low Lows...is compelling in its movement between sultry, charismatic bops and moody, melancholy slow-burners....each song a vehicle for a different part-sensual, depressed, cocky, homesick, in love-of the same whole." - PITCHFORK
"Quietly incandescent hybrid pop... super vocals, lit with both melancholy and playfulness" - THE FADER
"Since 2017, the French-Algerian R&B singer has been thriving... 2019 is going to be her official global takeover." - HIGH SNOBIETY
"her rapid success isn't a happy coincidence. In fact, Zouaï has spent years preparing for this moment" - VOGUE
"A 'chill, emotional, sexy, fun' popstar to get excited about" - i-D
Brooklyn-based, Paris and Bay Area-bred singer and songwriter Lolo Zouaï (pronounced ZOO-eye) today has released her debut album High Highs to Low Lows via Keep it on the Lolo / RCA Records. From humble beginnings as a teenager recording songs in her bedroom, Zouaï has catapulted herself into the ranks of some of today's top musicians. With an amazing growing fanbase - known as "The Loriders," the Paris-born singer / song-writer continues to solidify her musical catalog since stepping onto the scene in 2017. Her ascent has been fast and studded with major milestones that many only dream of -from selling out shows across 5 countries as an indie artist to opening for Alina Baraz on a sold out North American tour and modeling in the S/S 19 Tommy Jeans campaign, to contributing as a songwriter on H.E.R.'s Grammy-winning debut album and releasing her own music along the way, including a collaboration with Blood Orange and accompanying music video. Lolo received early critical praise from The FADER, High Snobiety, Complex, Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, V Magazine and continues to win fans with her stunning debut. Lolo's unique sound resonates deeply with her fans by tapping into a wide spectrum of emotions while still maintaining the pop and dance elements that turn her songs into self-proclaimed "bittersweet bangers". It's no surprise that her music is so multi-faceted considering Lolo's multicultural upbringing. Though she grew up in the Bay area and now lives in NYC, her French-Algerian roots blend seamlessly as she subtly flips between singing in English and French.
High Highs to Low Lows was co-produced by Lolo with her chief collaborator Stelios, the man behind most of Lolo's releases to date as well as the recent Young Thug and Elton John collaboration "High." The 12-song debut features stand out singles "High Highs to Lows Lows" and "Ride," an empowering pop-R&B anthem. With this debut release, it's obvious that this is just the start for Lolo Zouaï's rise to global stardom. Watch for more Lolo news soon!
