HANA VU Shares New Song + Video via Refinery 29

HANA VU
SHARES NEW SONG + VIDEO FOR “OUTSIDE”

Double EP Nicole Kidman / Anne Hathaway out Oct 25 on Luminelle
Early praise for Hana Vu:

“At the Party” is an evocapop anthem, fueled by icy synths and Vu’s dark lower register. Her upcoming double EP, Nicole Kidman / Anne Hathaway, is out in October. We’ll be here drowning in our feels until then." - Vulture

"How Many Times is an intriguing glimpse of an artist at the beginning of a skillfully carved path" - Pitchfork

"Los Angeles artist Hana Vu is wary of losing herself in a new role on her latest single “Actress"... Over a lush, enveloping production with the pleasant rush of horns and harmonies, the 19-year-old spins the abstract glamour of Hollywood elite into something that feels relatable, sympathetic and awe-inspiring." - Billboard

“Hana Vu’s ‘Shallow’ proves the seventeen-year-old is cooler than you and me.” - The FADER

"Soulful, sophisticated, and so Hana Vu." - NYLON

“a keen-eyed lyricist and a vocalist capable of bringing singer-songwriter vulnerability to bristling post-punk soundscapes...she’s poised to be an essential voice in this new era of indie rock for years to come.” - Pigeons & Planes (Best New Artists of 2018 So Far)

"Threaded through the entire project is Vu’s remarkable knack for melody; armed with a dazzlingly confident voice, these songs are all clearly hers, even if they explore radically different musical territory." - Bandcamp (Album of the Day)

"For a genius, Hana Vu is sure young. The 18-year-old's debut EP, How Many Times Have You Driven By, is an incredibly self-assured, individual collection." - Under The Radar (8/10)

"The Nicole Kidman / Anne Hathaway double EP carries this shift in sound to new levels, as modeled by the lush pop production of lead single “At the Party.” Equipped with a slightly surreal video documenting an all-too-familiar post-party hangover, a jaded Vu contemplates the futility of feeling spiteful." - FLOOD

“With the same spark that powered early Alvvays work and the nifty guitar work of St. Vincent, the 17-year-old is crafting something truly unique” - NME

"17-year-old Hana Vu is cooler than you and proves it with the release of her stand-out debut EP" - The Line of Best Fit

Los Angeles artist and producer Hana Vu just wrapped tour dates with the likes of Phantogram and Nilufer Yanya, and is gearing up to release her new self-produced double EP Nicole Kidman / Anne Hathaway later this month. The first two singles off of these complementary releases “At The Party” and “Actress” have already received praise from the likes of Vulture, Dazed, Billboard, NYLONBBC Radio 1, Brooklyn Vegan and more, and today she shares a third song. Accompanied by a Peter Ferris Rosati-directed video, “Outside” is out today. “Outside is about the disparity between the perceived and inner self,” explains Vu. “I’ve come to find out that the identity of an ‘outsider’ has become a performed personality that everyone subscribes to.” Check out the incredible video and read an interview with Vu HERE via Refinery29’s The Drop.

The Nicole Kidman / Anne Hathaway EPs follow Vu’s debut EP How Many Times Have You Driven By, which was released last year. These two new absurdly named but masterfully crafted releases showcase incredible sonic maturity for a nineteen year-old (and former Willow Smith-collaborator) who only just moved out of the house she grew up in, graduated high school, and turned down a college acceptance to make music full time. Nicole Kidman / Anne Hathaway will be released on October 25th, 2019 via Luminelle - pre-order it HERE.

Hana Vu will be performing at The Great Escape’s First Fifty show in London this Winter - catch her at Sebright Arms on November 14th and stay tuned for more North American dates coming soon.
