Today, Stereolab share “Wow and Flutter [7” / EP Version – Alternative Mix]” from the forthcoming Mars Audiac Quintet reissue. The release comes ahead of the group’s yearlong campaign to reissue all seven of their original Elektra studio albums released between 1993-2004, beginning with Transient Random-Noise Bursts With Announcements and Mars Audiac Quintet on May 3rd via Warp Records / Duophonic UHF Disks.
Says the group’s Tim Gane about the unearthed, alternative version of “Wow and Flutter”:"In some ways I consider this the beginning of the 2nd phase of the Lab, it’s the kind of treatment we should have given "Outer Accelerator", to get it to the next level. It’s definitely the approach that we would take on many of our later records.”
Additionally, Stereolab have shared vintage music videos, press photos, and other ephemera from the Transient Random-Noise Bursts With Announcements and Mars Audiac Quintet eras. Check out some clippings in the latest version of the Lab Report and watch some of the videos below.
Stereolab are gearing up for their first tour in a decade, with festival appearances at Primavera Sound and Desert Daze, plus nearly 40 headlining dates across Europe and America.
