“The transcendent album… finds her exploring the themes of digital humanism by way of vibrant hues, ethereal choirs and breathy, blissed out vocals” - Electronic Sound
“An expansive producer with a songwriter’s unerring sense of timing, a DJ’s intuition, and a psychonaut’s willingness to plunge ever deeper, on new record HUMANiSE, HAAi is looking to the things that can’t be synthesised; the record is a celebration of found family, and the connections found in person on the dancefloor.” - The Quietus
“For anyone who has experienced HAAi’s DJ sets, the album captures that same sense of euphoria and attention to detail—but adds an intimate, almost confessional dimension that feels wholly original.” – Clash
“…latest installment in this creative journey smudging the lines between psychedelia, mind-expanding electronics and dubby dancefloor thrum” - Juno
“… her solo work — which includes psychedelic electronica, massive breakbeat sounds, anthemic synth-kissed songs and remarkably fun D.J. sets — continues to cement her reputation as a stand-alone talent.” - The New York Times, May 2025
London-based, Australian-born producer, songwriter and DJ, HAAi (aka Teneil Throssell) has shared an EP of remixes of “Can’t Stand To Lose,” one of Beatportal’s Tracks of the Year, and the stand out track from her latest album, HUMANiSE.
Featuring remixes by producer and DJ ATRIP, Tom VR & HAAi (whose remix soundtracked an eye-popping installation at Outernet earlier this year) and South East London-based artist NIKS, the EP is the final release in a busy year for HAAi, who, after returning from an Australian tour that included Meredith Festival, is readying a 10-hour set at Phonox, London on New Year’s Eve, a venue close to her heart: Phonox was the site of her first residency.

Talking about the remix, ATRIP says: “I don’t have the words to describe what HAAi means to me, both as an artist and as a human. HUMANiSE is my album of the year and getting the opportunity to work on ‘Can’t Stand To Lose” is nothing short of an honour. I’ve had a year with setbacks; that album carried me through. I was incredibly nervous to share this with Teneil at the time, but equally thrilled about how it turned out. We have both been playing it throughout the summer and I am beyond grateful it’s finally out”

NIKS goes on to say, “I really wanted to marry my percussive elements with HAAi's angelic vocals whilst maintaining the depth of the track and its meaning. What started out as a conversation 2 years ago in a green room, has been brought to light.”
The EP follows the recent remix by producer, songwriter and long-time collaborator Romy. Romy’s trance-pop remix of “Stitches,” which debuted during HAAi and Romy’s back-to-back set at Glastonbury earlier this year.

The acclaimed new album, HUMANiSE - an immense evolution from her acclaimed debut - includes the singles “Satellite” (feat. Jon Hopkins & Obi Franky & ILĀ & TRANS VOICES), “Can’t Stand To Lose,” and “Stitches,” all A-listed by BBC Radio 6 Music, plus the 6 Music B-listed “Hey!,” and her collaboration with KAM-BU, “Shapeshift.”
The new album – described by The Quietus as “transcendent” and by DJ Mag as “…organic and synthetic sounds working in beautiful unison” - reckons with what it is to be human in an increasingly digital world, as AI threatens to eclipse everything and our screens separate us from each other.

HAAi has recently performed two very special sessions. The first, HUMANiSE (live album performance, from Drumsheds) is a film by New Vision Originals of a performance that unfolds inside a meticulously crafted installation of a ‘90s office: a time capsule lined with ring binders, Rolodexes, fax machines, reams of A4 paper, and landline telephones - reimagined within the cavernous shell of London’s Drumsheds. The set becomes a surreal workplace with HAAi bringing the conceptual world of the album to life alongside album collaborators Jon Hopkins, Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Obi Franky, KAM-BU, TRANS VOICES, and the poet Kaiden Ford. Watch the film HERE.
You can watch her debut on Later… with Jools Holland HERE.
She also popped into the DJ Magazine studios to DJ an hour of bangers. Watch the performance HERE.
In all of her work, Teneil has always sought to conquer new frontiers in electronic music and on the new album she’s drilling deeper into the grid. HUMANiSE reckons with what it is to be human in an increasingly digital world, as AI threatens to eclipse everything and our screens separate us from each other. The result is an ambitious and thrilling epic: embodying a sonic step up, exploring the sweet spot between machine-led dystopia and emotion-filled utopia.
“Throughout the album, I kept thinking about a machine with a human heart,” she says. Vocals are front and center, stunningly delicate and giving a newfound dimension to her kinetic productions. “It took a long time to get there, it’s such a vulnerable thing to do,” she continues, “but for this album, it was important for me to allow this ‘human heart’ to be front and center.”
The human heart has another focus on the album: unity and community. HAAi explains, “Even though HUMANiSE is about how the world is starting to change beyond our control, it’s important to keep a sense of togetherness and hope.” These ideas of community and a sense of belonging is of utmost importance, and she has returned to work with friends including Jon Hopkins, Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip, singer Obi Franky, rapper KAM-BU, artist Kaiden Ford, poet James Massiah, who guests on “All That Falls Apart”, and two choirs: TRANS VOICES with choir leader ILĀ and a gospel choir led by Wendi Rose. But this is no clique, the community she surrounds herself with is inclusive, with ample space for the listener on a journey where you are suspended in dreamlike euphoria, drawing the most human part of you to the surface, the part where nothing matters more than family, friends and togetherness.HUMANiSE is out now via Mute on limited edition crystal clear double gatefold vinyl and limited-edition CD in eco card packaging.
