Merry Christmas 2012
Hundreds of Orange County residents walk and drive by a Fountain Valley home known for its elaborate holiday light show every year, but some neighbors in the Greenbrook neighborhood tract are saying the house has gone too far.
Homeowner Jan Stewart first enlisted the help of friend Damion Rodriguez to install a Christmas light show using 54,020 LEDs last year in memory of her husband Larry, who loved watching similar shows on YouTube.
This year, the show uses nearly 2,000 feet of Ethernet cable and has added 10,000 more LEDs, multiple lasers, 16 lighted arches nearly 6 feet tall and a fog machine.

SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS REMIXES RAILBIRD
SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS
REMIXES
LUCKY EP OUT NOW
After self-releasing their debut album No
One in March 2011, RAILBIRD was invited to perform at SXSW, CMJ, and
the 4th Annual Roots Picnic alongside Ariel Pink, Little Dragon,
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, and more. RAILBIRD recently
performed at POP Montreal and CMJ 2012 and have just wrapped up a small
east coast tour. They will head into the studio again in January.
RAILBIRD'S "MIRRORs" // PREMIERES ON CONSEQUENCE OF
SOUND
LUCKY EP OUT NOW
while Pedinotti’s
vocals recall Bjork’s charming acrobatics...”
- TREESWINGERS
"...skittering Deerhoof
guitar smash-ups, rap-clatter percussion, and Sarah Pedinotti's chopped
vocals made for a triumphantly jittery cut."
- CONSEQUENCE OF
SOUND
"A statement of autonomy
from a group unrestrained by any force other than
themselves."
- IMPOSE MAGAZINE
"'MIRRORs' brings
together fierce talent, creative thought, and a smattering of
unconventional production."
- IN YOUR
SPEAKERS
"You'd be hard-pressed to predict the ending of a RAILBIRD song,
but
attempting that guess-work makes the experimental Brooklyn
band's
music more mysterious and suspenseful."
- MTV HIVE
- MTV HIVE
Brooklyn-based experimental psych-rock
band RAILBIRD are excited to premiere a new School of Seven Bells remix of
their recent single "MIRRORs" today on Consequence of Sound. To RAILBIRD,
the remix is "A journey in three movements. Ben [of SVIIB] established his
own dreamy world within the song, then dropped it while simultaneously
playing with mood and meaning throughout. It's a brilliant six minute
voyage based off of a three minute jaunt." Consequence agrees, stating the
Ben's methodically slowed down version of the original jittery cut creates
a "dreamy pool of contemplative reverberation and airy synth." Check out
the premiere of "MIRRORs" (the original cut) on MTV
Hive.
RAILBIRD
released their newest Lucky EP in late November, a tour de force
that includes two new previously unreleased songs, as well as "Jump Ship,"
a track that made waves this summer after a residency at Pete's Candy
Store. The video for the song, which
features guest vocals from Anti recording artist Sean Rowe and Phantogram's
Sarah Barthel, premiered on Brooklyn Vegan in late August. Watch
it here, or download "Jump Ship" here. A limited edition
run of physical copies of Lucky will be available at shows and
online (here) as part of a bundle that includes a t-shirt
with Jisoon
Park's original design.
RAILBIRD is a
cast of stunningly talented multi-instrumentalists fronted by Sarah K.
Pedinotti. SKP's vocal delivery has earned her apt comparisons to musical
luminaries Bjork and Kate Bush, and the band's unique blend of experimental
psych-pop has found a home with fans of Braids, The Dirty Projectors, and
Massive Attack.

HUNDRED WATERS TO RELEASE NEW TWO SONG 7"
HUNDRED WATERS TO RELEASE NEW TWO SONG 7"
NEW EP FEATURES DRAMATIC REWORKINGS OF ALBUM TRACKS, TOUR DATES WITH FREELANCE WHALES COMING THIS JANUARY
WATCH PIANO VERSION OF "CAVERNS" VIA YOURS TRU.LY:
One of CMJ's true breakouts, Hundred Waters has launched a pre-order for a new two song 7" coming soon on Small Plates/OWSLA.
The release consists two radical new arrangements of songs from the
band's eponymous debut full length and was recorded in a single day
session at Stadium Red Studios in Harlem in May of 2012. "Caverns" was rework for a piano and vocals performance by Nicole Miglis, the recording of which was documented by YoursTru.ly (video
link above). The new version of "Visitor" is decidedly more intimate
than its album counterpart, boasting a new arrangement for guitar,
bass, flute, trumpet, trombone, alto sax, clarinet, drums, and vocals.
The 7" announcement arrives just ahead of a run of tour dates with Freelance Whales, which kicks off in Hoboken, NJ on January 15 before winding its along the East Coast and Midwest for conclusion February 1 in Wilmington, Delaware. Fresh off a Fall tour with Julia Holter, their first European tour, and the veritable landslide of critical acclaim following their performances at CMJ Music Marathon (including rave reviews from New York Times, NPR and Pitchfork),
Hundred Waters are continuing to hone their exceptional live
performances as the road stretches ahead of them. More tour
announcements will be forthcoming.
