THE SOUND OF NOW. That’s how bloom effect—the transatlantic shoegaze trio of Argentine-born Jula Lafit (vocals/bass), UK native Craig Weighman (guitar), and drummer Tom Rappa—define their identity. Bridging continents and sonic influences, the band crafts reverb-laced dream-pop with both emotional weight and melodic lift. Blending English and Spanish lyrics into immersive, fuzz-drenched textures, their sound nods to the likes of Cocteau Twins, Alvvays, and Ringo Deathstarr—yet remains distinctly their own.
Media outlets have taken notice. KEXP calls bloom effect “a strong set of soaring shoegaze and swirling dream-pop,” while Whitelight-Whiteheat praises their “emotional female vocals” and “triumphant melodies.” Obscure Sound hails their ability to evolve from “dreamy intrigue into shoegaze-friendly textured vigor,” and Amplify The Noise lauds their “vibrant and emotional intensity.” Their upcoming EP oscilón—a cinematic six-song release landing September 19, 2025, via Vancouver tastemakers Kingfisher Bluez—continues the band’s exploration of sound as feeling.
