FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | January 13, 2025 — Los Angeles rock ‘n’ roll quintet Slamdinistas release a new single today, “Oh Yeah,” and share details of their second album. Wild & Restless will arrive April 25 on LP, CD and download via Rum Bar Records. The band plays an album release party at The Redwood Bar on May 3.

Together since 2020, Slamdinistas have been winning fans with their fervent mix of hard rock and pop hooks, delivered by a tight lineup of veteran musicians. The group includes lead vocalist Gabriel Johns (Shelter, FiDo), guitarist Loren Molinare (the Dogs, Little Caesar, Cruzados), guitarist Mike Gavigan (the Blessings), bassist Peter Downing (Adam Sandler Band, Jail Guitar Doors), and drummer Brian Irving (Gilby Clarke, Chris Spedding, Pat Todd & the Rankoutsiders).

Co-written by Molinare and Terry Laird, the tense rocker “Oh Yeah” dates to 1993 when Molinare was touring with Laird’s hell-raising punk group, Texas Terri’s Baby Bird. “I showed her the riff of the song, and she wrote the lyrics really fast,” recalls the guitarist. “The song always spoke to me, and when I brought it into the Slamdinistas’ live shows it really hit a nerve with our fans.”

The new recording of “Oh Yeah” is just the opening salvo from Wild & Restless. Recorded last summer at Kitten Robot Studios in Los Angeles, the album’s 11 originals were co-produced, recorded and engineered by legendary L.A. musician Paul Roessler (the Screamers, 45 Grave, Nina Hagen). Kevin Richardson of the multi-platinum selling Backstreet Boys, a friend of bassist Peter Downing, adds backing vocals to the album track “Johnny Wallflower.”

Wild & Restless is the follow-up to the Slamdinistas’ 2022 debut, Shoot for the Stars. The band supported that album with west coast shows, as well as venturing to New York and New Jersey for the first time. The album was quick to win accolades. In a review for The Big Takeover Magazine, Michael Toland wrote, “While the musicians create a backdrop of melodic, country-and-blues-inflected grit rock, Johns comes off like a survivor of a hard life, and his tunes sound like declarations of the joys of coming out of the other side of something other than paradise.” The album’s focus single, “Brand New Day,” enjoyed rotation on Little Steven’s Underground Garage channel on SiriusXM.

Slamdinistas continued to gig regularly throughout 2023 and 2024, and returned at the end of last year with the digital-only holiday single, “Santa’s in a Punk Band Now.”

As for their band name, Molinare explains, “Besides the great play on words related to the Clash, it tips its hat to anarchy in a political sense. It’s a powerful name that projects what we envision as our sound.”
