Elf Power Announces Vinyl Reissue of When The Red King Comes out May 3 via Orange Twin Records Remixed & Remastered on Limited Edition Red Vinyl, Including Bonus 7” with Two Unreleased Tracks |

March 4, 2024: Today, the Athens, GA-based psychedelic folk band Elf Power announced the vinyl reissue of their 1997 album When The Red King Comes out May 3 via Orange Twin Records. The remixed and remastered LP will be released on limited edition red vinyl, including a bonus 7” that includes two unreleased songs: “Historical Ant Wars” and "The Submerged Stone,” which was partially recorded in 1996, and finished by the original band members in 2020. This legendary concept album which features appearances from Neutral Milk Hotel’s Jeff Mangum and Julian Koster, of Montreal’s Kevin Barnes, and Sugar’s David Barbe is now available for pre-order via Bandcamp and Orange Twin Records. About the reissue, Elf Power’s Andrew Rieger says: "We're thrilled to have this album back available again on vinyl as it has been out of print for many years. The new remixed and remastered version really sounds noticeably better. There are instruments and arrangements coming through clearly in the mix that were previously muddled and obscured, so it's great to hear the songs with a new clarity, though they still retain the warm fuzziness inherent in their home-recorded 8 track cassette conception." This release follows the 2023 reissue of their debut album Vainly Clutching at Phantom Limbs and their 2022 full length Artificial Countrysides that was released via Yep Roc Records. The album was praised by Stereogum, Under The Radar and BrooklynVegan, who said “It finds their unique psychedelic pop/indie rock fusion sounding as great as ever.” FLOOD Magazine proclaimed, “Elf Power are far from running out of ideas nearly 30 years into their time together as a psych-folk unit,” while MAGNET Magazine said, “The songs themselves are some of the catchiest and most structurally sound Rieger has written in quite some time.” Elf Power will celebrate the reissue of When The Red King Comes with a special album release show in Athens, GA on Saturday April 27 at Nowhere Bar.
