Tiberius b is gearing up for the long awaited vinyl release of their Stains EP which was released to much buzz earlier this year. To celebrate they are also releasing two new remixes of songs from Stains including the EP’s title track and “No Smoke.” For the remixes Tiberius b enlisted x/o and Yu Su, two artists they admire deeply and knew would give the songs a new life.
Tiberius b explains “It was sweet and Cathartic to have these songs that were quite painful for me to bring into this world reimagined by two artists who I love and trust as friends. I saw x/o perform in London the winter before I recorded the EP and was very inspired by their set, particularly by their drum sounds.”
x/o is a Vietnamese-Canadian multidisciplinary artist Veron Xio. Interested in disrupting binaries and transgressing codes of identity, x/o uses themes of duality, contrasting sonics and butterfly evolution allegories to create new worlds around songwriting and storytelling. Previously described by The Wire Magazine as having "…a complex, compelling affect hardly heard in digital music..." they are currently preparing new music for 2022. They tell us "written during my first autumn months in Berlin, it's that introspective feeling that Tiberius B really captures and I wanted to fully submerge in underwater; deeply melancholic but with the glimmers of hope - sunlight that sometimes trickles through."
For the “Stains” remix Tiberius b tapped Yu Su who says “Francesca is a dear friend and I cannot be honored enough to rework this song. I hear such urge of looking forward to the end of a tunnel in “Stains", I want this journey to be lifted from the ground or to go underwater so that getting to the end doesn't really matter anymore, and that dream/reality & past/present have been mystified by something out of our hands.”
Tiberius b will be on tour starting next week joining TOPS in their North American tour. They will also play their own shows in LA and a headlining show at Berlin in New York with Quiet Luke before returning to their hometown of London to play Pitchfork London. All dates are listed below.
