"RIOT" is about our fights for equal rights that are happening on our streets globally, inspired by the Black Lives Matter protests in the U.S. and the recent arrest of Pussy Riot’s Peter Verzilov. "Hate to hate, and my religion is resistance. The track was released on the July the 3rd, and was warmly welcomed by critics; Anthony Fantano called the track "a banger". Pussy Riot believe that the police as an institution should be abolished, and an institution that truly serves the people has to arise from police's ashes. Pussy Riot updates: Pussy Riot's Peter Verzilov is going through a painful criminal investigation currently in Moscow. His flat and flats of his relatives were searched by the police eight times so far; all his documents and documents of his family are seized. Peter can't leave Moscow while the investigation. He's being accused of failing to declare dual citizenship (Russian and Canadian) and faces fines. It's clear that this criminal case has a goal to intimidate Peter Verzilov, Pussy Riot and other activists and to prevent protest actions from happening while Putin loses his popularity and support.
