LIARS unveil two new tracks, “ Coins In My Caged Fist” and “ The Grand Delusional,” ahead of the release of TFCF on August 25. Listen to the respective songs here and here. Showing two facets of the brand new album, TFCF (which stands for Theme From Crying Fountain), “The Grand Delusional” opens with acoustic guitar (as Andrew has said, "There's acoustic guitar all over this record! How ridiculous is that?") while “ Coins In My Caged Fist’” gallops along with drum machines and samples. “I wanted to do lots of sampling,” he says. “ I’d done a little in the past, but I’d started to realize the possibilities of the process, of sampling myself playing ‘proper’ instruments, and then using the sampler to put it all together in an ‘artificial’ way.”Surrounding TFCF’s release, Angus and a new touring band will embark on a world tour that begins this Friday in London. Full details below with more to be confirmed. Visit Liars’s website for exclusive ticket and album bundles. Liars have, as a matter of course, sounded radically different with each album, pursuing new concepts and occupying diverse mindsets. On this, Liars’s eighth studio album, the bustling backdrops of Los Angeles, Berlin and New York have been replaced with a presence far more intimate and autobiographical as Liars once again boldly step out of their comfort zone into vastly new musical territory. Embark on The Path to Crying Fountain by listening to this specially-curated playlist from Mute. While navigating The Path, listeners will hear the sonic progression of Liars’s discography that has led to Crying Fountain. Following an amicable parting of ways with Aaron Hemphill, Liars is now just Angus Andrew, who decamped to his native Australia - specifically to a remote part of the Australian bush - to create an album unlike any Liars had attempted before. Cut off from the rest of the world in his remote home studio, with no other distractions, Angus gave free reign to artistic impulses he’d never explored and those included experimenting with the acoustic guitar and sampling. The album’s reinvention of the Liars paradigm – blurring the lines between electronic and acoustic, between the experimental impulse and the addictive pop sensibility – is evidence that Angus’s creative energies remain as healthy as ever, even given the upheaval within the group. TFCF was written and recorded by Liars (Angus Andrew). Butchy Fuego, who performed live with Liars following Julian Gross’s departure in 2014, plays drums on three tracks. TFCF was mixed by Gareth Jones and mastered by Christian Wright.
