ABOUT DEATH BY AUDIO: Death By Audio was the beloved underground venue that existed in Williamsburg, Brooklyn from 2005 until 2014, during the early-aughts Williamsburg heyday as a hub of DIY music and artistic activity in NYC. Housing a music venue, a guitar effects pedal company, a recording studio, and the home of over 10 artists and musicians, DBA established a reputation for nurturing the underground music community and curating shows with the best emerging bands from around the country.
Upon learning the inevitable news that their lease would not be renewed in 2014, the creative forces behind Death By Audio threw an epic, 75-day long party celebrating everything that DBA had come to represent over its near-decade of existence. The venue booked a nightly concert calendar of stacked bills including many bands that had once played and long since outgrown the tiny room, including Lightning Bolt, Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees, Future Islands, Jeff The Brotherhood, and A Place To Bury Strangers. Additionally, the residents of DBA programmed over two months of special events designed to bring the music and arts communities together in celebration of the DIY ethos in which the venue was founded. |
