"Hinds has an excellent grip on its particular brand of hazy, jangly music, and uses the razor's edge between mellow and melancholy to maximum effect. They wield their tools with the easy confidence of beginners without sounding like amateurs." - NPR Music
"This great garage-rock crew from Madrid folds decades of naïf-rock history into its craftily shambling tunes - from riff-scraping contemporaries like Ty Segall to early-1990s International Pop Underground stars like the Vaselines and Thee Headcoats, right on back to 'Wild Thing.'" - Rolling Stone
"...Hinds are one of 2016's most badass newcomers." - Entertainment Weekly
"Though recorded in southern Spain, the lo-fi tracks, with lyrics in English, have a distinctly American garage-rock feel." - New York Times: T Magazine
"The chillest four-piece in rock hail from Madrid, and write choruses so loose and lovely you'll want to wear them in like a favorite pair of sneakers." - The FADER
Hinds will release their highly anticipated and already critically acclaimed debut Leave Me Alone this Friday, but the record is streaming early exclusively via NPR First Listen.PRESS HERE to listen to one of the best - and first! - albums you will hear in 2016.
Since bursting onto the DIY scene last summer, Hinds - Ana Perrote, Carlotta Cosials, Ade Martin and Amber Grimbergen -have mastered a raw and playful sound all their own. They have also established themselves as one of the most exciting emerging acts and, with the forthcoming release of Leave Me Alone on January 8th via Mom + Pop/Lucky Number, show no sign of slowing down.
Twelve perfectly imperfect and charmingly lo-fi tracks inspired by contemporary American garage rockers like Mac DeMarco, Ty Segall and The Black Lips, Leave Me Alone is an exciting introduction to the fun-loving quartet pioneering the burgeoning indie music scene in Madrid. Weaving sun-kissed, 60's-inspired melodies, executed with a genius call-and-response between co-vocalists and band co-founders Perrote and Cosials, Hinds create the ultimate soundtrack to the best day ever - from start to finish - spent with your four best friends on Leave Me Alone. Featuring their first-ever single "Bamboo," bright surf-pop tune "San Diego," the mixed-tempo "Fat Calmed Kiddos," a bitter ode to shitty boyfriends in "And I Will Send Your Flowers Back," and 8 more tracks of pure garage rock greatness,Leave Me Alone is guaranteed to bring the Mediterranean sun to you wherever you are in the world at any time of the year.
Hinds have two intimate NYC shows this week. On Tuesday, Hinds have an in-store performance at Other Music, and this Wednesday they will play an album release show for fans at Palisades in Brooklyn. PRESS HERE to RSVP to the Palisades show, which is presented by Hype Machine Stack Live - admission is $3 and limited to venue capacity.
