Worm has incessantly built upon their sonic palette of ‘Necromantic Black Doom’, with roots in nearly every worthy corner of extreme metal’s history - from the grandiose heights of ‘90s symphonic black metal to the emotional technicality of ‘80s shred metal. Today, four years since their lauded full-length Foreverglade, Worm emerge with their next studio album and first release with Century Media RecordsNecropalace. The Floridian band have only grown more powerful, showcasing a level of grandiose songcraft that is beyond modern compare. On Necropalace, Worm has managed to do what many others in this day and age can only attempt: They walk backwards into the future.

Necropalace lives in a world of its own. A world of lush velvet and ostentatious gold, covered in the dust of time. A world where shadows seem to move in your peripheral vision, yet the loneliness never ceases. A world where wounds of the flesh may heal, but those of the heart never do.

The nightmarish omnipotence of album opener and title track, “Necropalace,” ushers the listener into a journey through obsessive bloodlust by way of the spellbinding and powerful vocals of Phantom Slaughter while guitarist Wroth Septentrion flaunts his stunningly masterful songwriting throughout. “Necropalace” feels like an endless maze of subterranean candle lit corridors, with each riff constantly shifting and evolving. But with multiple listens, one discovers that the maze contains in fact many paths that seem to converge into one another.

Phantom Slaughter states, “Welcome to the domain of dread known as NECROPALACE. This fortress has kept my memories and nightmares for centuries. Risen from ancient slumber, the curse is once again free to haunt starlit nights. While approaching the icy gates of Castle Ravenblood, a swirling mist begins to form. Phantom figures surround you. Enter if you dare but be warned, the darkness may consume your mortal soul forever. The ultimate evil has returned…”

“Necropalace” is available today alongside Worm’s first ever official music video and short film“Outside of exhuming obscure symphonic black metal tapes from 1996, much inspiration for Worm comes from my obsession with 80s/90s horror,” tells Phantom Slaughter. Worm were finally able to secure the perfect team for their astounding film debut: Director Norman Cabrera (Danzig, Walking Dead, Fright Night II), Producer Maya Kay, Colorist Alex Nicolaou (Drab Majesty), all with direction from Ted Nicolaou (TerrorVision, Subspecies) meticulously brought Worm’s dark fantasy into a reality.

Enter if you dare, but know now the consequences of your choice. Through the opulent finality of album closer “Witchmoon: The Infernal Masquerade” - featuring guitar virtuoso Marty Friedman - Necropalace is truly the sonic representation of unbridled nightbound maleficence! The album manifests itself as the soundscape to a star laden winter night sky reflecting off the Everglades’ darkest slough; where death meets the deathless. This album is a vociferous call to action for anyone who still possesses ancient vampiric blood in their veins. Prepare yourself for a full force attack of zealous guitar agility and heretic spellcraft. The gates are now open.

Rise now, for the night is nigh!

THE LEAVING (CHVRCHES' MARTIN DOHERTY + JONNY SCOTT) DEBUT SINGLE “SAVED” OUT TODAY VIA AVENUE A / FUTURES / VIRGIN

INTRODUCING:

THE LEAVING
DEBUT SINGLE “SAVED” HERE
OUT TODAY VIA AVENUE A / FUTURES / VIRGIN

Today, Martin Doherty unveils The Leaving, a new project created in collaboration with longtime CHVRCHES drummer Jonny Scott. Born from a period of deep personal upheaval and creative rediscovery, The Leaving marks Martin’s most vulnerable work to date; an unfiltered body of music forged in grief, rebuilt through friendship, and electrified by the same instinctive chemistry that helped define CHVRCHES’ ascent. With Jonny now stepping fully into the creative foreground, the pair chart a bold new sonic path rooted in freedom, catharsis, and reinvention. They share their first-ever single, “Saved” HERE today.

Newly signed to Avenue A Records / Futures ✦ (home to Mt. Joy, Barns Courtney, Phantogram, Palace, Blossoms, Self Esteem), their first-ever single, “Saved” is the industrial rock debut track of a bigger release to come. ”Saved” is self-produced and written by Martin Doherty from CHVRCHES and Jonny Scott.

The Leaving add: ““Saved” is a look inside the mind of someone on the verge of mental collapse. Paranoia. Hypochondria. Agoraphobia.

The idea that people close to you are a destabilizing, debilitating influence. They are responsible for underhanded, Machiavellian behaviors towards you. Subtle but highly effective. They see a person on the edge and press the advantage. Make you question your sanity. Slyly, they push buttons in pursuit of capitulation, then step back and watch as you burst into (metaphorical) flames.

They enjoy the show. But is it all in your head?”

The vulnerable, industrial track starts with the haunting lyrics: “What begins with a tragedy. Can be recovered in time. Made a friend of an enemy of mine.” Let’s see what else The Leaving brings to us in the near future.

The Vega Vault Project and Sacred Bones Records continue to uncover Alan Vega’s robust collection of work left behind by the influential visual artist, musician and poet. Today they announce the reissues of Vega’s highly influential 1980 debut S/T solo album, in addition to its follow up, Collision Drive. Now remastered from the original tapes, and available on streaming services for the first time ever, the two albums will be faithfully re-released by Sacred Bones Records, preserving the raw intensity of Vega’s original recordings while making them newly accessible to listeners worldwide. The Vega Vault Project and Sacred Bones have meticulously assembled these packages and will also offer a companion piece Alan Vega Deluxe Edition which will be available as a limited deluxe double LP and include unheard demos, unseen photos and new artwork. All three albums contain unseen photos and new album artwork (including Vega's original track sheets from his 1978 Suicide / The Clash Tour Notebook).

More About Alan Vega and Collision Drive:

Alan Vega was released in 1980 at the same period Suicide released their second album, Suicide: Alan Vega and Martin Rev. Vega wanted to dig deeper into the roots of his own sonic identity, fueled by rockabilly, early rock n roll, and his enduring love for Elvis Presley. Filling the gaps between recording with Suicide, and fleshing out the songs he was writing on his own, Vega committed to producing his own songs and started performing solo shows live to develop his sound.

At the time, Vega met Phil Hawk, a young Texan artist who had tracked him down at a party at the Drawing Center in New York, after seeing him perform with a boombox at Max’s Kansas City. Vega was immediately struck by Hawk’s look, and described him as a “blonde Elvis” and was intrigued by his raw, intuitive playing style. Vega had been experimenting with sound and tape manipulation for years but needed a guitar player. Vega instantly saw the potential that could match the vision he had for a stripped down, minimal is maximal rock n roll record.

As with his visual art, Vega layered sound in a minimalist, dynamic and intentional way. Vega deconstructed the drums. He recorded each drum part individually combining electronic and acoustic sounds played live. He directed Hawk on specific guitar riffs he wanted to hear until he got the sound he was looking for.  Vega performed all other music parts, and arranged and produced all the music himself. The result was a fiercely singular album built from raw materials and deeply rooted in Vega’s artistic vision.

Alan Vega includes the timeless anthem “Jukebox Babe” with its jiving rhythm and minimalist swagger. “Kung Foo Cowboy” takes on a southern twist, strongly leaning into the blues, while the golden pop shine of “Ice Drummer” rings in melodic yet plaintive vocals, marching drums and a tasteful harmonica solo.

Vega’s debut set off a ripple effect in New York’s music scene, carving a unique place in the underground canon from the 80s on. Mark RonsonJim Jarmusch, LCD Soundsystem, Trent Reznor, Bruce Springsteen, The Flaming Lips, Billy Idol and countless others have cited Vega and his solo work as an influence on their sound.  Read more about Alan Vega here.

In 1981 Vega followed his debut with Collision Drive which was recorded within the same year and in the same NYC studio as his self-titled. The album expands Vega’s palette with a grittier, more layered, and unfiltered energy. Here his lyrics channel universal themes deeply rooted in his fascination with street life, science fiction, politics, comics, love and the mysteries of the universe. It’s a record that pulses with feeling and rebellion, displaying the full spectrum of human experience and Vega’s evolving vision.

“Alan was always reinventing himself," says Jared Artaud, co-producer and creative director of The Vega Vault Project, "he was creating and refining his mastery of variation while maintaining his own unparalleled and identifiable aesthetic. Sonically, this album is more dynamic than his first, which is a minimalist masterpiece. Ditching drum machines for a live drummer, and enlisting a hard rock band to back him, ‘Collision Drive’ offered a different view of Vega’s artistic vision."

"Alan’s music thrived on interpretation. He believed the meaning of his songs belonged to the listener. His lyrics painted emotional and conceptual landscapes but he resisted explaining them. He always wanted the listener to bring their own experiences, imaginations, and emotions into what listening to his music and words meant to them, and ultimately that openness is part of its power,” recalls Vega's longtime collaborator, wife and The Vega Vault Project leader and co-producer, Liz Lamere

From the fiery political fury of “Viet Vet” to the proto punk mantra of “Ghost Rider,” Collision Drive pulses with tension, urgency, and uncompromising vision. The phrase “more more more, more for the poor” hits in full force on “Outlaw,” a classic Vega cry for justice, survival, and human spirit that is said to have inspired Billy Idol’s iconic “more more more” in “Rebel Yell.”

Alan Vega and Collision Drive are declarations of artistic independence and freedom from one of New York’s most influential and uncompromising artists. Vega was relentlessly innovative, continuously paving new ground. These updated editions recapture his raw, electrifying work as the two remain cult cornerstones of outsider rock and a touchstone in the evolution of art-punk and experimental pop. Read more about Collision Drive here.

Alan Vega and Collision Drive will be available across digital retailers and in stores on January 23, 2026 via Sacred Bones Records in addition to Alan Vega Deluxe Edition. Available as a limited deluxe double LP, Alan Vega Deluxe Edition is the definitive reissue of Vega’s solo album. The release pairs the newly remastered original album with a second disc of previously unheard early demos which were discovered in the Vega Vault by Liz Lamere and Jared Artaud. The tapes were then transferred by engineer Ted Young and mastered by Josh Bonati. These demos offer a rare glimpse into Vega’s creative process behind his cult classic. All three albums feature new album artwork designed by Jared Artaud and Michael Handis, exclusive to these pressings. The companion piece that sheds new light on Vega’s process and vision during this pivotal era, making it a must-have for collectors and longtime fans. See below for tracklists and formats.

Grace Cummings Releases New Christmas Single Featuring Jim James

GRACE CUMMINGS RELEASES “TIMES LIKE THESE” FEATURING JIM JAMES

Listen To Grace Cummings’ New Christmas Single “Times Like These” Featuring Jim James

Grace Toured With My Morning Jacket Across The U.S. Earlier This Year; Watch Their Live Collaborations Of Prince’s “Purple Rain,” Neal Young’s “Harvest Moon” And Bob Dylan’s “Knockin On Heaven’s Door

Australian singer-songwriter Grace Cummings has released “Times Like These”, a heartbreaking single for the Holiday season featuring Jim James of My Morning Jacket. Known for her commanding voice and emotionally potent songwriting, Cummings offers a song of comfort, compassion and resilience for those facing loneliness during the holiday season.

"Times Like These is for somebody that needs some comfort and some love," Cummings explains. "The Holidays boast joy and happiness and celebration and togetherness but it’s one of the most lonely times I can think of, for many people.

The state of the world leaves me feeling devastated, but maybe a tiny bit of it would be better if I tried to pick myself up and keep going, helped others, told somebody I cared about that I love them, make a small mark that somebody might find some beauty or comfort in.

This year, my friendship with Jim James has helped me to see some beautiful things in the world, and to be grateful for what I have. It is an honour to have him, one of my favourite voices of the past 20 years, singing with me on this song."

The release follows Cummings’ critically acclaimed third album Ramona (2024), recorded in Topanga Canyon with producer Jonathan Wilson. Hailed by Rolling Stone as one of the Best 100 Albums of 2024, Ramona earned praise for its emotional depth and vocal power, with Uncut noting its “heart-tugging drama” and PAPER describing it as “delicate soundscapes, swirling world-building.”

Following Ramona's release, Cummings toured extensively across the US, UK and Europe, appearing on Late Night with Stephen Colbert and performing live for KEXP. She also joined My Morning Jacket on their North American theatre tour, joining Jim James nightly for on-stage duets.

“Times Like These” continues Cummings’ evolution as an artist unafraid to blend vulnerability with raw strength — a Christmas song not of decoration, but of solace.

NYC’s queercore legends the Dead Betties have spent two and a half decades as ferocious trailblazing politically-charged punks, channelling the righteous fury that anyone with a pulse and a conscience has felt in the last decade and alchemizing it into their most immediate and passionate music to date. Their message is more powerful than ever with the brand new Whitey EP due out this Friday, November 21 via Rotten Princess Records

Featuring lead singer/bassist Joshua Ackley, guitarist Eric Shepherd, and drummer Derek PippinWhitey is the latest chapter in the Dead Betties’ constantly forward-thinking career. The EP title track “Whitey takes aim at the hollowness of whiteness as a cultural invention. With a tense, slow-burn build, it wrestles with conformity, capitalism, and the emptiness of subscribing to a system built on silence and disconnection. This song doesn’t attack individuals; it dissects the structure itself—how it numbs, isolates, and conditions people to be grateful for their own alienation. It’s the band at their most conceptually ambitious, peeling back layers of societal myth to reveal the void underneath.

Watch / Share: “Whitey” Video

Ackley and the Dead Betties put even more of themselves into Whitey than ever before, self-producing the EP to give it their own personal stamp. “We're ready to keep doing what we set out to do when we all moved to New York at 19 and we set out to push angry queer music into the public domain,” Ackley says while talking about what this EP represents. “I'm really proud of what we've managed to pull off in our career—and now we're sitting back and looking at what's happening in the world and realizing that, not only is it really time for us to do what we set out to do, but it's our responsibility, because we're the adults now. It's on us as a society to do better and actually put out the art that we want to hear, instead of sitting back and complaining about not hearing it.”

With Whitey, the Dead Betties continue to shape the world they want to see and cement their legacy as queer rock vanguards, with results that are deeply felt and unforgettable.
