TAXI THE RICH AGAIN TOUR WITH

A STOP AT TREEFORT FESTIVAL

Today, Colorado’s Jesus Christ Taxi Driver released their second album, Taxi The Rich, via Midtopia. Rapturously irreverent, politically pointed, religiously disoriented, and existentially uncertain, the suite of songs’ ethos is pure rock ‘n’ roll, but the sound sure isn’t. Taking cues from garage punk, funk, surf rock, twang and even power pop, JCTD assembles an unlikely thematic cast of characters on Taxi The Rich including serial killers, Lana Del Rey, Jeffrey Epstein and more. Finding their home under the lounge punk umbrella, absolutely nothing, including jazz flute, is off the table — Stream

The band initially announced the record with the satirical single “Too Cold To Golf.” Personifying everything they hate, JCTD holds court amongst the silicone faces of the United States’ capital city, Palm Beach of course. Elsewhere on the album, the self-titled single functions as the band’s thesis statement. JCTD points a finger directly at the hypocrisy and hatred held by some of the religious right in America reminding them that Jesus is not a white man.

The band shared that, “‘Taxi the Rich’ is a worried perspective of our current time. The album's subject matter looks at the world from afar and from up close, even looks within and into the past. We wonder how we got here, we recite mantras to ease the fear, and sometimes we play our instruments loud to show our teeth.”

Formed in 2022 on Colorado’s front range, the band is made up of Ian Ehrhart (guitar and vocals), Colin Kelly (guitar and vocals), Miles Jenkins (drums) and Will Ehrhart (bass). Known for their unrestrained, disruptive live shows that have been likened to Iggy Pop and The Cramps, Jesus Christ Taxi Driver has previously opened for Frank Black (Pixies)The Hold SteadyA Place to Bury StrangersThe Thing and more. Leaving their mark across North America, they have also performed at festivals including TreefortSomewhere Fest and Break Out West. Fueled by the human connections they make on the road, the band has every intention of spending as little time at home this year as possible, recently wrapping up their Taxi The Rich Again Tour.

Although Taxi The Rich was released digitally today, lucky fans have had access to it physically for the last month thanks to Midtopia’s Buy Before You Stream initiative. Working to escape the algorithm, the program allows artists to receive 100% of the vinyl profits and helps strengthen the artist-to-fan bond at the human level.

PRAISE FOR TAXI THE RICH

WESTWORD “On Taxi the Rich, the band pummels evangelical zealot right-wingers with a sense of humor that doesn’t belie the deeper meanings. There’s even jazz flute (!!!!) across the album, in a more-than-welcome revival that would make Ian Anderson proud.”

UNDER THE RADAR “Colorado-based rock outfit Jesus Christ Taxi Driver makes music that captures the chaos and absurdity of our modern moment and transmutes it into something

electric and galvanizing.”

KMUW “There are a number of different styles represented in the songs on this new album. It seems like there aren’t rules regarding genre. If someone brings in a surf riff, that’s fair game.”

CARRY THE ZERO “Catchy as hell.…politically pointed, irreverent punk rock that lands i

ts hooks before you notice the teeth.”

YOUNGSTER YEAR “The album is less a departure from 2023’s ‘Lick My Soul’ and instead sees the band settling deeper into its own sonic identity.”

THE DAILY MUSIC REPORT “The track blends gritty guitars with urgent rhythms as the band directly addresses the hypocrisy and hostility they observe within segments of the American religious right.”

13TH FLOOR “Unfiltered, religious hypocrisy, politically charged, satire and raw as hell, Jesus Christ Taxi Drivers’ new album Taxi The Rich is how you should be getting all your information

about the world’s issues.”

THE BAD PENNY “Denver’s Jesus Christ Taxi Driver isn’t just a band with one of the best monikers in the music universe – they’re also dead serious about resisting the Trump administration and MAGA’s destruction of American values, the federal government and even the country itself.”
