Today, Peruvian singer-songwriter and producer Daniela Lalita makes a resounding reemergence with the release of a powerful new single and video, "Tiroteo", featuring frequent collaborator Mura Masa. Meaning "gunfire" in Spanish, "Tiroteo" embraces pain as a catalyst for transformation — an exploration of the choice to surrender completely to suffering rather than resist it, in hopes of stripping away an old self and being remade entirely. Brooding and atmospheric at its core, the track pulses with slow-burning, hypnotic rhythms that feel equal parts sensual and heavy, carrying a spiritual, almost baptismal quality where pain becomes a sacred and welcome force for rebirth and renewal.

Known for blending experimental electronic sounds into immersive, richly imagined worlds, Lalita expands her storytelling on "Tiroteo" with a cinematic black-and-white video directed by herself, and shot entirely in Peru with local collaborators. In the visual, Daniela moves through stark industrial landscapes — dancing alone in expressive choreography, riding in the back of a pickup truck — before the camera finds a crowd gathered around an open fire, an image that feels elemental and timeless, wholly in step with the song's themes of ritual, release, and collective transformation. Listen to “Tiroteo” HERE and watch the official music video HERE.

Daniela shares about the single, “Tiroteo is about finding empowerment by using the pain of loss and catastrophe as a dissolving element that allows oneself to die, regenerate, and be born again with the use of one's own ammunition. I took inspiration from the way caterpillars liquefy inside their cocoon, turning into a nutrient-rich soup through digestive enzymes that break down their own tissue to rebuild into an entirely different insect.”

Born and raised in Lima, Peru, Daniela’s multidisciplinary art practice has always been rooted in sound—an integral foundation to her work despite her focus moving to visual art and couture early on. She studied piano as a child, later attending design school and a graduate music technology program at NYU. In New York, she studied under CalArts founder and Buchla modular synthesizer pioneer Morton Subotnick. Since her debut Trececerotres EP in 2022, Daniela has carved out a distinct lane through her high-concept storytelling and immersive world-building, earning praise from i-DOffice MagazinePaperPitchfork and more. Daniela’s early music introduced a self-contained world rooted in ritual, memory, and generational lineage, built through layered vocals, raw production, and an immersive visual language. Self-produced and emotionally expansive, the project established Daniela Lalita as a singular voice in experimental electronic, fusing folktronica, art pop, and avant pop, while laying the foundation for the next chapter of her evolving universe.
