PRAISE FOR MOTHLAND
"One of [New York’s] most exciting up-and-coming bands..." – Rolling Stone
"More than anything, their sound is engineered to make you move..." – Creem Magazine
"TVOD are elbowing their way out of Brooklyn’s young and burgeoning post-punk scene and into the spotlight, expressive and raw in both stage presence and sonic output." – Alternative Press
""Mantis" is a blast of driving no-frills punk, capturing both the band’s irrepressible persistent energy and their surprisingly sticky melodies. It very much encapsulates the punk ethos of loud, fast, and simple, with blaring guitars, machine-gun percussion, and jittery melodies driving the track forward." – Under the Radar
"Capturing chaotic feelings of melancholy, nostalgia, longing, pain, euphoria, and self-reflection, the intensely emotive project is set to showcase a more raw and unpredictable side of their musicality. With thoughtful lyrics and fierce energy at the forefront of their craft, TVOD continue to cement their place as one of New York’s most exciting up-and-coming bands." - Earmilk
"Brooklyn’s TVOD return with Uniform, a taut and angular post-punk track that ebbs and flows before swelling into something punkier though it never fully lets itself off the leash. The tension is palpable, a mix of jagged down-picked guitars, ominous repetitive basslines, and sci-fi synths propelling the song forward with an anxious undercurrent. The chorus, as melodic as it is repetitive, digs its way into your head, reinforcing the track’s sense of unease while keeping it irresistibly catchy." - Backseat Mafia |

Brooklyn-based and self-described as "more of a cult and less of a band," punk rockers, Television Overdose, or TVOD are equally as entertaining and lively as they are introspective and candid. In anticipation of their debut full-length album Party Time, set to drop on May 9th via Mothland, TVOD is sharing their latest release, "Pool House." Filmed in a "shitty hotel pool," in New Jersey, the band describes the track as, "1970’s modern American punk band gets dumped at a pool party." "Pool House" captures the timeless heartache of feeling alone at a party, while showcasing the band’s signature less-is-more approach to grooves, gritty guitar parts, clever use of harmonics, and quirky synthesizer tones. These elements are complemented by mellotron arrangements that enhance its epic chorus. With the earworm hook, "All I wanted was a best friend, someone to show around town," the track delivers a therapeutic release of frustration and anger, all while grappling with an underlying sadness. Though its title might suggest a straightforward summer banger, the single actually tugs at the heartstrings, telling the story of a romance crumbling under the weight of time. It closes with an astute reel-to-reel ritardando effect, a perfect nod to the song’s emotional depth. All the while, TVOD does what they do best—keeping listeners jamming out, even as they sing about heavy subject matter. "Pool House" is out April 8th via Mothland. |
