Today, Swedish artist, producer and metaphysical visionary Varg2TM redefines the blueprint of electronic dance music with the release of his long awaited new album Nordic Flora Series Pt. 6: Outlaw Music via influential indie label YEAR0001 -listen here. The new project comes as the magnum opus to the ‘Bad Boy’ of EDM’s culture disrupting Nordic Flora Series, serving as a bold and ambitious masterclass on pushing the limits of avant-garde production and composition. Earlier this year, Varg2TM built up anticipation for his long awaited return to the scene after releasing the first single of the new record, “Hitty” with frequent collaborator and Drain Gang rapper/producer/designer Thaiboy Digital. The late night club anthem would be the first in a streak of releases along with “Illusions 1996,” “Pose1don” with Joon Gloom, Yung Sherman & Woesum, and “Lucky” featuring Eartheater & Earth, each providing a new glimpse into the evocative fantasy realm Varg2TM envisioned as the final chapter of his seminal series. The theatrical new music video captures the uneasiness of a late night anxiety cruise as Varg2TM, Bladee, and Ecco2k chase comfort on an open highway illuminated by the city’s skyline. Alternating shots of the trio flood the screen while broken glass interrupts their drive brings a new sense of despair not found on previous tracks. Ecco2k’s grunge vocals over the song’s abrasive drums thundering through the howling synth lead create a skin-ripping sense of urgency, whose familiarity is ironically comforting to all those overly-reflective night owls searching for some escape from their thoughts. The groundbreaking producer is also in the middle of sharing his sonic alchemy around the world after having announced an international tour which started on March 17th and will be running through August 10th with stops in New York, Los Angeles, Prague, Shanghai, Beijing and more to be announced soon -UPDATES HERE. |
Nordic Flora Series Pt. 6: Outlaw Music comes as the sixth and final installment of Varg2TM’s Nordic Flora Series and was co-produced and mixed by Yves Rothman (Amaarae, Yves Tumor, Blondshell, Eartheater). Originally started in 2016, the series gave rise to Varg2TM’s signature anarchic sound where genre imposed limitations are rebelliously disregarded. Varg2TM draws inspiration from rap, EDM, trance, industrial techno, and ambient compositions throughout his architect-like creative process to pave an emotional ride listeners might not expect at the ground level and challenge the expectations of dance and pop music’s soundscape for the forthcoming years. The series fed directly into the creation of the prolific producer’s own label Cease 2 Exist, which was inaugurated in 2020. Giving space to explore frenetic hyperpop crossed with trap, and all the while nodding to Sweden's EDM culture, Varg2™ has made perfect sense of his incomprehensible mix of collaborators and tastes. With his twisting cutting edge aesthetic and taste for wry melancholy, along with slew of culture shifting features including the likes of Eartheater, Skrillex, RX Papi, Bladee, Ecco2K, and more, Varg2TM is sure to have a breakout year and solidify himself as one of the most influential artists on the future of both underground and pop music culture for forthcoming generations ahead. |
