The French band L’Impératrice and Ireland’s Rejjie Snow release the unique collaborative single “Everything Eventually Ends”, penned by them and it comes out today, just before the Parisian disco-infused sextet graces the Austin City Limits festival’s Barton Spring stage. See the ACL live stream on HULU here.

From first glance, this wholly cosmic visual nicely illustrates the stratospheric altitude of “Everything Eventually Ends” where the merger of Rejjie Snow and L’Impératrice will take us.  And from the first listen, we also understand that this track is the encounter of two worlds that have more in common than it seems.

The single "Everything Eventually Ends" is the extract of 7 artists at their best, with an unstoppable groove and a crystalline voice that perfectly answers the metaphysical questions of the Irish rapper, all mixed by the legend Neal Pogue.

The Parisians, who form an electrifying live band, draw from a range of genres, from 70s space disco to downtempo 90s synth pop, taking in French film composers like François de Roubaix and Michel Legrand along the way. Following a very successful release in France, L'Impératrice’s debut album Matahari arrived worldwide in 2019 with all the pomp and circumstance of a coronation. It is a glittering, cinematic summation of six years of hard work that draws on some of the finest found sounds and forgotten sonic fandangos hiding in crates across the land, all given L'Impératrice’s own inimitable 21st century twist. Their follow up album Tako Tsubo (2021) was critically acclaimed and earned them the chance to play Coachella 2022, which became their breakthrough live set. Tako Tsubo is the official name for broken-heart syndrome, (蛸 壺, from Japanese "octopus trap"), which manifests itself by a deformation of the heart due to an intense emotion - a negative or positive one.

Rejjie Snow might seem like a rap artist but he doesn't see it that way. His influences are as disparate as George Michael and Charles Bukowski. He designs clothes and paints. He sees the moon as his first love. He almost had a soccer career but, instead, Rejjie toured with Madonna and dropped his debut album, Dear Annie, in 2018. His follow-up Baw Baw Black Sheep is out now.
