(New York, New York – December 10, 2021) – Brooklyn based alt-pop band Record Heat (fka Spirit Animal) have just released their new single “Left Hand Cigarette” today via The Orchard. Stream and purchase the track, HERE.
"Fleeting moments can make for the longest lasting memories: a glance exchanged; an unforgettable scent; the feeling of “what could have been.” With “Left Hand Cigarette” we tried to capture this in heartbreaking detail, down to the hand the subject was smoking with. We dreamt up our missed connection’s backstory and projected it onto the fattest distortion bass we could muster,” states Record Heat about the new track.
“Left Hand Cigarette” follows the release of “Magnetic Woman”, which came out this past October. Both songs appear on their forthcoming EP, Love. Purchase and stream “Magnetic Woman”, HERE, and watch a livestream performance of the track on Rolling Stone’s YouTube channel, HERE.
Record Heat have earned fans so rabid that many got tattoos of the band’s lyrics. Their debut album Born Yesterday struck a chord and they toured relentlessly behind it, supporting bands as diverse as Fitz & the Tantrums, Incubus, The Struts, and White Reaper. While their 2020 EP, 1, continued to receive editorial support from the likes of Spotify and Apple Music, Reborn Yesterday sleeper track “Arm Candy” found its stride during the pandemic, rocketing passed 500,000 plays and landing on 1000s of playlists. The band has proven to be a true “catalog act,” remaining as relevant to the alternative music soundscape as ever.
