A few weeks after the release of her latest track “Hanoï”, a brilliant and elegant ballad about the desire of a Parisian to leave everything behind, Marie Minet presents the remix. The "Hanoï" Remix is a rhythmic and sunny production by the Nigerian producer Kel-P, who is best known for producing and co-writing Burna Boy's Grammy-nominated Album African Giant in 2019.
With this Remix, which is influenced by Afro-Pop, French chanson and carried by warm and luscious instruments, Kel-P once again shows off his talents. It's a careful production that respects the acoustic richness of the original version. Marie is an artist who gives herself to the stories she tells, just as she gives herself to life. The singer travelled to Ghana last year to collect inspiration for her new album, there she met with the new generation of producers from the Afro-Fusion and Afrobeat movement.
During this trip, Marie Minet met Kel-P, a young Nigerian producer who gained popularity by producing Burna Boy's album African Giant (nominated at the Grammy Awards last year), but also with Wizkid, Mr Eazi, Tiwa Savage and Killbeatz (Ed Sheeran, Fuse Odg, Wizkid).
Her first album Clair Obscur enables Marie Minet to express herself and to reveal a mixture of the different cultural influences she has lived through. The new Afro-Pop remix is a living example of this musical socialization. Kel-P, who carries on the acoustic tradition of Afrobeat, mixes it cheerfully with electronic rhythms to offer us a new version of Hanoi and usher in the summer. A clear and beguiling voice, strong lyrics with nostalgic tones. Profound melodies with Cape Verdean and African influences. Her first album Clair Obscur, in which Marie interprets one timeless and universal song after the other, is set to music by a central figure in world music, Jon Luz.
The album, which will be released by the end of this summer, will be accompanied by afrobeat remixes in collaboration with some of the most promising producers of their generation.
The release of “Hanoï” follows Marie Minet's debut single “Attendre l’Été”, which appeared in November last year, and the most recently released singles “Prête à tout”, “Je serais tout ce que tu veux” and “Happy End”. The French woman, who lives in Lisbon, combines traditional Portuguese instruments with French chanson in her music, thus building a bridge between tradition and various cultural influences.
