I'M YOUR EMPRESS OF DUE APRIL 3RD
Empress Of by Dorian Lopez
"Supple, quietly devastating electro-pop that’s packed full of character.” – The Guardian
“Lorely Rodriguez has created a bright and easy universe to exist in, leaving each of us coming out the other side feeling refreshed.” – Noisey
"a masterclass in pop songwriting" - Rolling Stone
Today, Empress Of, born Lorely Rodriguez, returns to announce a new album. I'm Your Empress Of is due 3rd April and is a testament to not only Rodriguez' craftsmanship as an artist but as a producer. Rodriguez wrote and produced the entire album except "U Give It Up" and "Hold Me Like Water," for which she enlisted the help of Jim E-Stack and Mikey Freedom Hart, respectively, and executive production co-helmed by BJ Burton. The album is her third full-length, following the "delicate but skillful" (NPR) Us and her "astonishing" (Pitchfork) 2015 debut Me.
Empress Of is also sharing the first song and video from the forthcoming album. With 'Give Me Another Chance' the artist delivers a pulsating anthem with an equally enthralling Alexis Gomez-directed, Story produced-video that centres around her at a grimy and alluring club night. The track is also included in Apple Music's New Music Daily playlist where she's currently featured as the cover art.
Listen to and watch 'Give Me Another Chance' above, see album details below, and stay tuned for more from Empress Of coming soon.
About Empress Of:
Under the name Empress Of, Honduran-American songwriter, musician and producer Lorely Rodriguez creates introspective, self-empowering pop music centered around her impressive, acrobatic vocals. On her 2015 debut album, Me, she established a danceable, spontaneous sound that embraced whimsicality and percussiveness. With her 2018 sophomore album, Us, Rodriguez wanted to facilitate a more equal exchange of energy between herself and her listeners, to create a community.
Now she's gearing up to release her third album - I'm Your Empress Of comes on the heels of touring with Lizzo, Blood Orange, Maggie Rogers and Mura Masa and follows her collaborations with Khalid, MØ, DJDS and her song 'Wild Girl' with KITO. Lorely shares, "After writing three albums, no process has been the same. This record wasn't written in a remote location. It wasn't written in a collaborative effort. It was written in my small studio in Highland Park, Los Angeles over two months in between touring the world. Music is magic. Something that possesses me, shows me things about myself that aren't easy to see. It's called I'm Your Empress Of because I've always felt that once a song is done, and the emotion is there and it's not inside me anymore, it belongs to the world."
