(New York, NY) The Burney Sisters, the indie-folk-pop duo comprised of siblings Emma and Olivia Burney, are poised to break out of their native Columbia, MO with their upcoming EP, Where We Stand, to be released September 28th via Gaslight Records.
At the young ages of 10 and 13, The Burney Sisters have progressed from covering songs by their favorite artists such as The Avett Brothers, Cowboy Junkies and First Aid Kit, to writing and performing their own material. Primarily playing ukulele, elder sister Olivia wrote the bulk of the material on 2017's debut EP, Running Away, and multi-instrumentalist Emma has recently begun contributing to the composition and arrangement of The Burney Sisters' songs as she expands her instrumental arsenal to include guitar, bass, banjo, keys and fiddle.
The coming months are primed to be a momentous time for The Burney Sisters. After opening for country music legend Wynonna on August 25th at Shawnee Bluff Vineyard, they will be the youngest act to ever perform at the renowned St. Louis music festival, LouFest, September 8th, and will follow that by opening for and appearing at the Roots n Blues n BBQ Festival on the day of Where We Stand's release, September 28th. An official music video for "Where We Stand" and additional material will be released before the end of 2018.
