Despite forming in 2008, The Shrine feel like a band from a wilder, more reckless era. Undoubtedly one of America's hottest underground bands, the Venice, California-based trio plays loud, heavy rock 'n' roll that combines the hook-laden appeal of '70s garage rock and gritty '80s hardcore with a skate punk energy and attitude resulting in a sound they describe as "psychedelic violence.” Their 2012 debut album, Primitive Blast, was hailed by many as one of the best albums of the year, and they’ve been making waves again with their recent sophomore effort, Bless Off
Harnessing the power and energy of a band five time its size, King Tuff is the moniker of multi-instrumentalist mastermind Kyle Thomas. He recently released his third full-length album, Black Moon Spell, on Sub Pop, adeptly combining the dangerousness
of garage rock and the glitter of glam rock with seriously catchy pop hooks. The groundbreaking new album has earned praise
from fans and critics alike, with Consequence of Sound boasting, "Even through charges of distortion and screeching,
fuzzed-out guitar, the hooks are catchy as hell, churning out infectiously sunny waves and sharply angled guitars. Thomas’
energy is palpable, and his magnetism smacks of the nervy core of late ’70s rock."
