In honor of the 20th anniversary of the death of GG Allin, and in conjunction with the release of "My Prison Walls" (a 208 page hardcover numbered limited edition collector's book that contains letters, illustrations, prose, and Allin's own personal accounts of his time spent in prison) Aggronautix has once again immortalized the most notorious Rock N Roller of all time in Throbblehead form.

This figure of GG portraying his 1989 look is limited to 2000 numbered units, stands at 7 inches tall, and is made of polyresin. GG is accurately sculpted right down to his signature bandana, sunglasses, torn clothes, and tattered leather jacket.
This is the 21st Throbblehead to be polyresinated by Aggronautix. In May of 2009, the company launched with a highly popular G.G. Allin "1991" figure, which was limited to 2000 numbered units and sold out quickly.

All Aggronautix figures are now available for purchase on
www.aggronautix.com or www.seeofsound.com and will also be available
at many independent retailers, comic shops, tattoo parlors, etc via distribution by MVD Entertainment Group - a company specializing in music-related distribution since 1986

SikRik Masks has produced an 80's era GG Allin mask featuring his
trademark sunglasses. It's officially licensed (like the throbblehead) and is limited to just 40 numbered copies.  The cost is $119.00 USD.

A "My Prison Walls" Combo Pack which includes the new book, the new throbblehead, and SikRik's new mask, can be ordered HERE.

TY SEGALL'S SLEEPER OUT AUGUST 20TH ON DRAG CITY

"LET YOUR HAIR GROW! BE WHAT YOU BE!"TY SEGALL'S SLEEPER OUT AUGUST 20TH ON DRAG CITY

TAKE THE SLEEPER TOUR THIS AUGUST & SEPTEMBER

It was a dark and stormy north coast night. On the horizon was the shadow of the Sleeper, his technicolor presence stretched across the land for all of the black and white world soon to see!

The Ty Segall expedition gets farther and farther out with each and every record. And to every record, a tour - or three of four. For Ty, coming down off the Twins trip seemed like twice as far as it ever had been. He was a changed man, made different in the days between then and now, with more changes and big jumps dead ahead.

Earlier this year, before checking out of his SF Mission digs and heading down the coast for a new way of living, Ty fired up his machines, hit play and wrung a last helping of blood from his rock, creating a new set of songs.

Between two minds, between two places, on beyond Twins, Sleeper envisions a world of haves and have-nots. Sleeper is Ty-fi, for sure, engineered at home from beginning to end, the ultimate sonics accessed with a freak hand and an instinct for what makes a moment shine. Sleeper flows more colors than ever before through your mind's eye, pushing the walls of the universe out just a micron further, making everything heavier and lighter all at once, to allow time to beam infinitely forever.

But that was then - the date of revelation draws closer! Now can the true nature of Sleeper be seen! It stands before you, blending almost into the fleshly pattern of its host, brandished as if to say, "Let Your Hair Grow! Be What You Be!"

Ty Segall's Sleeper is out August 20th on Drag City. Catch the Sleeper tour this August and September. More dates will announced in the coming months.

METZ ANNOUNCE FALL EUROPEAN TOUR DATES

METZ ANNOUNCE FALL EUROPEAN TOUR DATES

+

RELEASE NEW VIDEO FOR "GET OFF" DIRECTED BY CHAD VANGAALEN

Since the Oct. 2102 release of their critically acclaimed debut album, the Toronto-based trio METZ have been touring very nearly non-stop, playing shows across North America and Europe. METZ, have announced that they will return to Europe in the fall for a headline tour starting in Luxembourg on November 1st and ending in Manchester, UK on Nov 22. See below for a full list of confirmed shows, including performances at Sub Pop’s Silver Jubilee on July 13th in Seattle’s Georgetown Neighborhood (click here for a full lineup) as well as Festival performances at Sled Island (Calgary),  Pitchfork (Chicago), Roskilde Festival (Denmark),
OFF festival (Poland), Iceland Airwaves and many more. See below for a full list of Festival performances and your dates.

In other METZ related news, today stereogum premiered a new video for album track “Get Off” which was directed by fellow Canadian and labelmate, Chad VanGaalen. Click here to transport to the surrealistic world of  “Get Off”.

What people are saying about METZ:

“In the past ten years, independent bands have inched back toward the musical aggression that was something of a default for the community in the late eighties and early nineties. METZ, a trio from Toronto, have fully revived this confrontational, skilled and energetic approach. The guitarist-vocalist Alex Edkins, the drummer Hayden Menzies, and the bassist Christ Slorach have made one of the year's best albums…” – The New Yorker

"METZ songs tend to start with an isolated element–Hayden Menzies' thundering, hammer-of-the-gods drum salvos, Alex Edkins' solitary guitar screech–that immediately triggers a ticking time-bomb countdown for the moment when the band erupts in unison. You can see the storm coming from a mile away, and yet, when Menzies, Edkins, and bassist Chris Slorach launch into the merciless, firestorm battering of "Negative Space" or the wrecking-ball swing of "Knife in the Water,” it still startles like a sneak attack." - [8.5 / Best New Music] - Pitchfork

"The Toronto noise-punk trio METZ, on the other hand, were wild-eyed and brutally focused. Playing maelstroms more than songs, they’re like a less unhinged Jesus Lizard, full of coiled ferocity that engulfs you, releases you briefly, then swallows you up again. This year’s Sub Pop debut only hints at their live intensity." ["CMJ's Most Talented 10"] - SPIN.com

"They're pretty much a burst of musical brutality. And seeing them last night at The Knitting Factory in Brooklyn was more than an affirmation of that. A trio from Toronto, they'll sit nicely next to your Melvins and Nirvana and maybe even Wire. In other words, their edge is more than attitude and volume and speed." ["CMJ Discoveries: Day 3"] - NPR's All Songs Considered

WAMPIRE ANNOUNCES TOUR WITH SMITH WESTERNS

SHARES STRFKR'S REMIX OF "ORCHARDS"

CURIOSITY OUT NOW ON POLYVINYL

Wampire photographed by Andy DeSantis

Following the recently release of their debut LP Curiosity and the close of their tour dates with fellow Portland residents and Polyvinyl label-mates STRFKR, Wampire with new music and a new summer tour. In July, the band will head out on a full US tour with Smith Westerns. To celebrate, they're sharing the remix that STRFKR have done for Curiosity cut "Orchards." They've stripped away the original's haze and replaced it with throbbing synths and an insistent hi-hat that retains the essence of the source material while making their take decidedly more upbeat.

After forming Wampire, Rocky Tinder and Eric Phipps steadily began to make a name for themselves in the same Portland, OR, scene that has produced labelmates STRFKR as well as Unknown Mortal Orchestra. It makes sense, then, that Wampire came to Polyvinyl's attention when the duo opened for STRFKR at a hometown Portland show and that UMO's bassist Jacob Portrait produced Wampire's debut full-length, Curiosity.

The choice of Portrait was a natural one, with both Tinder and Phipps believing he'd be able to contribute almost as much to the record as they would. And so, in mid-August Tinder and Phipps each brought fragments of song ideas into the studio, before deconstructing, re-arranging, and fitting them back together piece by piece -- at times lyrics and melodies were thrown out, brought back from the dead, or improvised on the spot.

This loosely structured approach made the process truly collaborative, with producer Portrait occasionally chipping in ideas for lyrics, arrangements, and instrumentation. The resulting nine tracks are instantly memorable, while defying easy categorization. Says Phipps, "We realized the record began to stray away from having a 'sound' and gradually became a platter with an assortment of sounds. The record showcases a flavor we haven't quite dug into before."

The album's diverse combination of sounds ultimately helped give birth to its title, Curiosity -- a word that invokes the listener's wonder at what will greet their ears next, while also describing the overall curious tone the record possesses.

First single, "The Hearse" serves as the perfect introduction for those unfamiliar with the band -- its opening notes swelling instantly with electronic organs over a driving drum beat. By the time bass and vocals kick in, you're already hooked. Elsewhere, "Orchards" weaves an infectiously breezy melody on the strength of vocal harmonizing, tuneful whistling, and undulating guitar lines. In some cases, Wampire's unique rhythms are best described by the band members, as with "Trains," a Motown-meets-Strokes track that Tinder perfectly summarizes like so: "It's sexy, sounds huge, and by all means should be blamed for future babies."

The album concludes with the equally sensual "Magic Light," a song centered around a dark seductive bass groove that sets the tone for Tinder's come-hither lyrics. It's the kind of track that draws you ever further into the record's beguiling clutches, leaving a lasting impression that remains well after its final notes have faded out.

GOLDFRAPP "Tales of Us"

Goldfrapp release their stunningly beautiful new album Tales Of Us through Mute on September 10th, 2013. Their sixth album, Tales Of Us is written and produced by band members Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory and was recorded at their studio in the English countryside.
A sumptuous body of work, Tales Of Us has been two years in the crafting and is their most narrative, cinematic and intimate recording to date. Nothing in their accomplished back catalogue has hinted at the new lyrical breadth that the band have introduced to Tales Of Us. All the songs except for one are named in the first person with a cast list of evocative character sketches, the contrary love affairs, the suspense, hallucinations, fairy tales and modern folklores documented and the traces of redemption they find in song take the poetry of Goldfrapp’s delicately considered music somewhere brand new.
A trailer for the album offers the first chance to get a glimpse of Tales Of Us and can be seen at www.goldfrapp.com. Collaborating with the uniquely cinematic narrative, filmmaker Lisa Gunning is creating a compelling and beautiful film to accompany the album, which will be shown in cinemas later this year.
Goldfrapp kick-start a summer of very special live performances with two shows at the Manchester International Festival on July 17th and 18th when they will be performing Tales Of Us live for the very first time, accompanied by the Royal Northern College of Music string orchestra. The band will then be performing at Somerset House on July 20th before going on to headline the Lovebox main stage on Sunday July 21st.
The summer shows are a precursor to a European headline tour in October and November. US tour dates to be announced shortly. For all ticket information please visit www.goldfrapp.com
Tales Of Uswill be available from September 10th on CD, vinyl, digital and a special limited edition boxset that will contain an exclusive disc of bonus material and a hardback book compiled by Goldfrapp, further details to follow.
