The Deer Tracks and coming to the USA

FOXYGEN spring tour 2013

FOXYGEN starts another long tour today. Most of the shows are already sold out. They will be coming back to NYC and LA in May for some headlining shows. Tonight they are in San Francisco, which is appropriate. Then they go to LA and Austin, a lot of the south, and end up in NYC on Feb 28th. They head back to the south and SXSW. And the tour ends of in the Pacific Northwest.

Blood Red Shoes return to North
America for the second time in six months for five shows with The Joy Formidable and a coast-to-coast headline run.
The
duo of Laura-Mary Carter and Steven Ansell have been busy in the studio as
well: they released their third full-length In
Time To Voices in July of 2012, and the Water
EP dropped just last month via V2 / Cooperative Music. January also saw the
re-release of their first two records, Box
of Secrets & Fire Like This,
also on V2 / Cooperative Music.
For
a taste of the pair's bombastic live shoes take a peak at the new video for
explosive track "Red River". The video contains live and on-the-road
footage of the band's recent tour in Russia, which saw the band encounter the
full force of the Russian Customs officers, travel through snow after shows,
and spark mosh pits in Moscow and St Petersburg.
Expect the same level of excitement from the restless outfit this time
around. "We planned to spend most of 2013 working on new material after touring
like motherfuckers last year," says drummer/vocalist Steven Ansell. "But we
realized that we'd go insane if we stayed in one place too long. Plus the last
North American tour we did was a blast and kind of inspired us with new songs
anyway. So we're heading back over for a few weeks again, hitting some familiar
places and breaking some new ground too. It'll be cool to play the songs off
our new EP because some of them were actually inspired by our time on the road
in North America in late 2012."

Truly great art is that which can't be easily understood and dissected, but immediately resonates nonetheless. Tera Melos' new full length, X'ed Out
is just that kind of adventure. The songs transcend in a way that makes
you want to sit friends down to hear it, not only to share the
experience, but perhaps in hopes that together you can create the world
in which songs like this can be defined. It hits mental buttons and
flicks internal switches that you never knew existed, while cleverly
obscuring the technical precision for which the band has been known.
It's remarkably multifaceted, incredibly catchy and perplexing to
unravel exactly how it all works.
"It's
like visiting a friend who lives on the 14th floor of a building with
no elevator, yet he has a grand piano in his apartment," explains
bassist Nathan Latona. "How did he get it there? Was it carried up 14
flights of stairs, assembled on site or what? This record is the piano
in the apartment with no elevator. We wanted to do all of the tricky
stuff in a way that doesn't seem noticeable."
X'ed Out is the culmination of an arc begun on Tera Melos' first proper full-length, Patagonian Rats (Sargent House, 2010) -- a supercollider of 60s pop hooks, Minutemen
garage-prog, post-punk evisceration, wiry psychedelia and nearly
everything else in-between. Here, the Sacramento based trio burns and
simmers simultaneously while situated somewhere without benefit of
location services. It's a nowhere land, X'ed Out of the grid, both inviting and daring. Join us.
From
the very first fluttering notes of album opener "Weird Circles" it's
clear that we're encountering an entirely new Tera Melos.
Guitarist/vocalist Nick Reinhart's steady, rhythmic palm-muted
strumming and Latona's nimble counter-melody glide the song through the
ether like Tangerine Dream with stringed instruments.
Reinhart's soft falsetto vocals hover at the forefront until drummer
John Clardy's propulsive beat kicks in short, sharp jolts with wailing
noise leading up to a triumphant crescendo. Elsewhere, "Bite" soars
with a chiming harmonized guitar drone smeared over repetitive,
mechanical sounding rhythms. Haunting Beach Boys
style "do do do" vocals lead in to the bubbly, rapid-fire notes of
"Sunburn" before erupting into the unabashed pop hooks of the chorus.
Mellower moments, like the swooning guitar drone and vocal harmonies of
"No Phase" and threadbare-yet-bludgeoning "Melody Nine" show just how
richly developed the band's musical palette has become. "Tropic Lame"
sounds almost reminiscent of Goo-era Sonic Youth's
maligned guitar melodies -- skronking, ringing, bending -- while the
whole band lean into their instruments to create a massive haze of
joyful noise.
"I'd
initially wanted to make a really simple and minimal record," Reinhart
says. "But our minds wander way too much, so when the songs came to
life, they raged a little more than expected. In the process, it became
clear that to move forward we needed to think less." Clardy agrees,
"we're not trying to bludgeon people over their heads with
technicality. It's more deceptively simple."
X'ed Out will be available everywhere April 16th, 2013 on LP, CD and download via Sargent House.

There is an accepted music industry
strategy, mainly from the mouths of experienced music managers and
A&R men, that for a band to get ready to present themselves to the
world they should go on tour. In most cases this advice works; the band
hone their craft on the road so by the time they get on to ‘Later with
Jools Holland’ they can amaze with their slick, tight rock performance.
However, this doesn’t always work.
BEAK> formed by Geoff Barrow (drums), Matt Williams (keys-axe), and Billy Fuller
(bass) in 2009 when they recorded their self-titled debut album in
Bristol, created out of 12 days of improv sessions and then edited into
song form. Shorty after releasing their self titled debut album on
INVADA records UK and Ipecac records U.S., the band went on a
successful tour, playing various festival dates across Europe and the
U.S. Buzzing from the tour, Beak> then returned to the studio to
start work on ALBUM 2 titled >> only to find that the
time on the road had taken its toll on the band’s delicately sensitive
and creative nature. And, by consequence, had turned them into a truly
awful-sounding pub prog-rock band. The magic had gone. It seemed that
the band were thoroughly moribund. Until... One rainy afternoon in
Bristol after many tortured, truly terrible recording sessions
something changed. It may have been the diesel fumes from the bands
tour splitter bus had worn off, others say that the band simply turned
their amplifiers down. We will possibly never know the true events of
that afternoon but the band began to play and, once again as before,
their bleak, wobbly anti-blue note sound had returned, but this time
with added synthesizers.
BEAK> have a strong ethos to making records –
all albums come from live improv sessions with all musicians playing
together in one room, no preconceived written ideas and once recorded
no overdubs or fixing – what you hear is what happened.
BEAK> have released 2 albums and toured
extensively in Europe & the US, headlining shows and supporting
Chris Cunningham & The Horrors along with playing many festivals in
Europe (ATP, Primavera Sound, Route du Rock).
Despite BEAK> members all being in other bands
they passionately feel that BEAK> should not be seen as a “side
project” – they’re a real, continuous working band.

UK radio shows this single MONO is the bands first track specifically
taken to radio as a single
BEAK> wrapped up their UK tour throughout November and December of last year, and are playing select dates in the US this February.

Maria Minerva (neé Juur) was born in Estonia, studied in London and now calls Brooklyn home.Now set to release Bless, a new EP due April 2nd, 2013 on 100% Silk, the record builds on her aesthetically-minded, intellectually-driven blend of electronic pop and is a further reminder of the sheer enigma and presence of this artist.With a career in music that only begun in 2011, the artist has been featured in New York Times, The Guardian, NME, Uncut, Vice, Pitchfork, Dazed & Confused, Vogue and countless other publications. Gathering descriptions as diverse as "hypnagogic abstractionist" and "dancer synth wizard" (Pitchfork) to "dance-pop made sallow and creepy" (New York Times) and "dub-savvy, gothic electro-pop the likes of which we've never heard," (FACT Magazine,) Maria Minerva has a sound that is quite impossible to define.Having signed with acclaimed Los-Angeles based independent label Not Not Fun in 2011, she has since released an impressive collection of songs, beginning with her debut "Tallinn At Dawn" on cassette, as well as two LPs, Cabaret Cixious (2011) and 2012's Will Happiness Find Me?, and two EPs, 2011's Noble Savage and the following year's Sacred and Profane Love. JULIANNA BARWICK SHARES "PACING"
7" DUE MARCH 5TH ON SUICIDE SQUEEZE RECORDS
TOURING THIS SPRING
In 2011, Julianna Barwick's third record The Magic Place garnered
incredible critical acclaim across the globe. Barwick has worked with a
variety of artists ranging from avant-garde composer Ikue Mori to
singer/songwriter Sharon Van Etten. Most recently, in 2012, she
collaborated with Helado Negro on the OMBRE album Believe You Me, which Wire magazine called "a modern avant pop masterpiece."
Barwick has also been commissioned to remix Radiohead's "Reckoner" and
her own music has been remixed by artists ranging from Prince Rama to
Diplo.
Most recently, Barwick has performed in several
intriguing venues including the Guggenheim Museum in New York and
architect Philip Johnston's Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut.
On March 5, Barwick returns with two
new haunting compositions for a 7" single on Suicide Squeeze Records.
"Pacing" features Barwick's voice and layered harmonies, "but it's a
bit of a diversion from the vocal loop-based songs I tend to make" says
Barwick. "I absolutely love the piano. I wish I could play it better.
For the cover, I chose my friend Peter Coffin's photograph of a piece
he did based on the Newton color scale that corresponds perfectly to
the musical scale. I absolutely love the image and it corresponds well
with the piano pieces on the single."
The b-side,"Call," is a frail and passionate solo piano piece.
