Bass Drum of Death is a two piece band from Mississippi composed of John Barrett on guitar and vocals and Colin Sneed on drums. Together they make blown-out, blazing songs. Their debut LP was released last spring on Fat Possum Records. John wrote and recorded the whole record himself using drums, a guitar, a USB microphone, and a computer before teaching Sneed to play drums for the live show and beyond. The songs are about drugs, religious girls, panic attacks, mild to severe depression, Elvis appearing in your dreams and giving you advice, gravity bongs, and the devil living inside your brain.

Now, with Spring kicking into full gear, Bass Drum of Death is gearing up to release a 7" as well as a split 7" with DZ Deathrays through 3|4 (3qtr). Then on the precipice of Summer, Bass Drum of Death and DZ Deathrays are hitting the road bringing a dose of the things we love about summer -- long nights, adolescent debauchery and rock and roll -- to a city near you. The two bands won't stop until they've completed a lap around the country and Canada too. Don't miss this grungy party when it hits your town.

DAVID LYNCH PREMIERES NEW VIDEO ON VICE's NOISEY YOUTUBE CHANNEL

David Lynch will debut his self directed video for “Crazy Clown Time,” the title track from his first-ever solo album, exclusively on the Noisey Youtube channel. Monday, April 2. Mr. Lynch describes the setting for the video as “an intense psychotic backyard craziness, fueled by beer” and FILM COMMENT calls the track “Crazy Clown Time” “a giddy, half-told story of a party gone awry and women with torn shirts.” The premiere of “Crazy Clown Time” marks the latest from the Noisey YouTube channel's ever expanding presence as a world-leading online music destination. The channel made its debut in February with M.I.A.'s "Bad Girls," and VICE-produced A$AP Rocky video, "Wassup."

Recorded over a year at his own studio with engineer Dean Hurley (who also contributes guitar and drums), “Crazy Clown Time” unveils a majestic, yet powerfully idiosyncratic vision of “modern blues” that could only be drawn from the mind of David Lynch. Liars – Angus Andrew, Aaron Hemphill and Julian Gross – have announced further details of their eagerly awaited new album.

Titled WIXIW (pronounced “wish you”), the 11-track album will be preceded by a single, “No.1 Against The Rush”.

WIXIW, set for release on Mute on June 5th 2012, is the band’s sixth studio album and the follow up to 2010’s critically lauded Sisterworld, which garnered an 8.1 Pitchfork rating and Best New Music distinction.

Known for their live performances, Liars are confirmed for two highly anticipated shows this June for what will be the first shows since the winter of 2010. The live dates include Webster Hall on June 20th in New York City and a show at the Music Box in Los Angeles on June 22nd.

The title, WIXIW, is explained by Angus Andrew, “’wish you’ is a familiar and universal sentiment of longing and hope, but when misspelled becomes uniquely shrouded and difficult to interpret, which in many ways is representative of our music and the songs we wrote for this album”.

Watch what happens when human beings are confronted with WIXIW and see it manifest in unlikely places.

He continues, “The word being a palindrome offered us some comfort, and came from superstitious behavior that was the result of extreme uncertainty and doubt. The word and spelling struck us because it seemed to exude a special quality or power.”

Recorded in LA, self-produced by the band with additional production from Daniel Miller and mixed by Tom Biller, the album is hard to shake, tough to pin down, and impossible to get out of one’s head even after an initial listen. Simultaneously the most accessible and most challenging release from these iconoclasts, it is both a summation of Liars’ work up to now, and a complete break from anything you’d ever heard the band do previously.

“If we aren’t confusing people, it’s not us,” Andrew laughs. “If we aren’t confusing ourselves with what we do, then we’ve failed.”
