Today, Atlanta-based post-punk group CDSM (short for Celebrity Death Slot Machine) announce their debut EP Hell Stairs and share their lead single: "GFH."

On “GFH”, CDSM alleviates our existential pain with a postmodern disco scorcher. The World is literally and metaphorically crumbling around us, let’s abandon ourselves to soothing rhythm sections, fierce saxophone flurries and manic synth modulations, as we’re told about the wonders of hedonism.

Nightmarish and strange, "GFH" is a dark-wave epic following the story of a misguided young man who gets into trouble and ends up an undercover cop. Eventually he is killed on the job and is resurrected as a rat. The rats life ends up similar except he is sent off to war where he regretfully has to kill his own kind.

The first single from Atlanta-based goth-punk collective is recommended for fans of Viagra Boys, The Voidz, Fat White Family. Filled with swirling synths and devilish bass lines, "GFH" pulls listeners down into the pulsing depths of a smoky underground rave, a lucid dream, a post-apocalyptic odyssey. The music video is the perfect visual accompaniment to the track: a wildly creative cartoon animation that feels both psychedelic and completely immersive. Check out the video here and below.

Don't forget to keep an eye out for the group's debut EP Hell Stairs, out April 29th on Mothland. CDSM’s forthcoming coming EP is both glamorous and bleak, swanky and derelict, uplifting and crushing. It’s hedonism clinking in your glass, change jingling in the pit of your chest. Sure, it is post-punk meets darkwave meets no wave, but it’s even more so, an invitation to dance away the pain, in the form of croonesque laments, rumbling synths, swirling saxophone riffs and tight four-to-the-floor cadences. You now have the perfect clair-obscure soundtrack for a night at the local neon noir casino. You’re welcome.

CDSM Bio:

As the sun sets on an ever-heating planet, strange synthesizers converse in the distance, punctured by disco rhythms and interjected by saxophone growls, akin to a jukebox of divine sadistic temptations, oozing goth rock-esque melodies that forever haunt you… You have just been exposed to the groovy sonic onslaught of CSDM, a collective based in Atlanta (GA) that features current and former members of alternative outfits: Material Girls, Neighbor Lady, Mothers and Rose Hotel.

While in the confines of their windowless subterranean concrete studio, CDSM is helmed by Ben Presley, Tyler Jundt and John Restivo Jr.. The live band features accompaniment from Jack Blauvelt, Drew Kirby and Vinny Restivo. This formula, consisting of an evil choir of synthesizers, a shining drum set bathed in red fog, a tenor brass machete, and a cascading flow of motley melodists, is said to affect the room like a defibrillator jolting its pulse.

Their first EP, Hell Stairs (April 29th, 2022 via Mothland & Exag), is both glamorous and bleak, swanky and derelict, uplifting and crushing. It’s hedonism clinking in your glass, change jingling in the pit of your chest. For fans of Viagra Boys, The Voidz, MGMT, Warmduscher, Fat White Family and Gorillaz.
