LOW'S THE INVISIBLE WAY OUT TODAY

LOW'S THE INVISIBLE WAY OUT TODAY

Sub Pop Records is excited to announce the official release of Low's new record, The Invisible Way. Out today, March 19, the album is already getting raves from the media around the globe.

NPR hailed, "most of these songs land squarely in that sweet spot where darkness and worry are swathed in pristine beauty," while Filter said that Low "continues to evolve into a better version of themselves...they maintain the patient emotional tone that has drawn fans to their music over the years while refining their sound into something even deeper." Meanwhile, overseas, MOJO gave The Invisible Way four stars, called it "one of the band's strongest albums," and said, "immersion in The Invisible Way's melancholia is a sublime pleasure," and Uncut awarded it "Album of the Month" status, and claimed, "in its own quiet way, it's as confrontational as anything the Duluth trio has ever done."

The Invisible Way was produced by Wilco's Jeff Tweedy, engineered by Tom Schick and recorded in Wilco's studio in Chicago, IL, during the fall of 2012. The album finds Low's majestic melancholy in full bloom yet distinguishes itself with its starker, unadorned soundscapes, layered harmonies and drummer/vocalist extraordinaire Mimi Parker singing lead on five of the 11 songs. The album tackles large issues ("the songs are about intimacy, the drug war, the class war, plain old war war,
archaeology and love," says Sparhawk) in a manner that plays a stunning counterpoint to the sublime hush of the music.
On Thursday, March 7, saki, the boutique record store, art gallery and performance space in Chicago, partnered with the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events to present Low and The Invisible Way album producer and Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy in their "Off the Record" series. At the event, Low played several stripped down versions of songs off the new record.  AV Club was able to capture a few of these songs on video.  Watch "Holy Ghost" and "Plastic Cup" from the links provided below.
