MUTUAL ADMIRATION SOCIETY:
HOWLIN RAIN & VETIVER ANNOUNCE THREE SF SHOWS FOR 2012 NYE RUN
DECEMBER 28, 29, 31 AT CAFE DU NORD
Two trailblazing Bay Area pioneers of the New Cosmic California movement, Howlin Rain and Vetiver, return home for three nights of musical mutual admiration at Cafe du Nord on December 28th, 29th and 31st. Tickets are available HERE -- A limited number of 3-night combo ticket packages are also on sale.
Howlin Rain has been called "A psychedelic cocktail of Crosby, Stills and Nash, the Faces, the Damned and author Raymond Carver" by Rolling Stone Magazine. Their latest opus, The Russian Wilds,
produced by Rick Rubin, is a sprawling, Pynchon-esque labyrinth and a
colorful, feeling-filled catalyst for hungry minds that RELIX called
"an out-of-the-box classic." The band has been on tour since the
album's release, winning over fans across the globe with their bold and
brazen live performances.
"Visceral in execution, it was one of the best shows I’ve seen this year." - Aquarium Drunkard

Vetiver's
latest album, The Errant Charm, was made for walking. Bandleader Andy
Cabic spent hours wandering the streets around San Francisco’s Richmond
District, listening to rough mixes, tinkering with lyrics and
arrangements. Pitforck said that the ".... melodies are impeccably understated" and of Andy's lyrics, said that they "set an undeniably easy-going mood. "
Errant Charm builds to a robust character you’ve not heard from Vetiver
before, but may have anticipated if you’ve followed them over the last
four albums, from their eponymous 2004 debut through 2009’s Tight Knit.
"Made up of songs that jangle and bubble, croon and coo, it’s like a seven-song master class on how to make a guitar pop record that looks backwards (to folk-rock, sunshine pop, country-rock, '80s radio pop) but sounds completely modern. "- All Music
