"Some bands just ooze cool. The proudly independent LA band The Growlers serves up an infectious combo of new wave, disco and indie rock in Natural Affair."

LISTEN & SHARE:
The Growlers - Natural Affair LP

Self-producing the album, The Growlers worked with Topanga Canyon friend Kyle Mullarky (Allah-Las, Little Wings) to craft early versions of the songs, then with engineer Ivan Wayman (Father John Misty, The War on Drugs) and mixer Dave Cerminara (HEALTH, Weyes Blood) to bring a new level of polish and continuity.  The backing band delivers time and again, courtesy of longtime Growlers touring members Brad Bowers on bass and Richard Gowen (Jonathan Wilson, Nick Waterhouse) on drums, with support from synth wizard Adam MacDougall and veteran bassist Dan Horne, both of psych supergroup Circles Around the Sun. "We have a new respect for professional players," says Nielsen. "At first we always wanted to have homegrown and kinda shitty players, but now we see how the pros can take the songs to a new place."
arguably delivering The Growlers' most mature, thoughtful, and truly human release yet

About The Growlers
Led by singer Brooks Nielsen and music director/guitarist Matt Taylor, The Growlers have forged their own twisted path on the global music scene since their founding in 2006 in Dana Point, California. They're the party band that grew into a traveling circus, spawning their own annual event (Beach Goth) and growing an international fanbase, while releasing six studio records that trace a line from garage psych ballads to edgy radio pop. On their first three records - Are You In Or Out? (2009), Hot Tropics (2010), and Hung at Heart (2013) - The Growlers combined reverb-rich waves of vintage surf rock with the dark, slow-burn melancholy of outlaw country. Chinese Fountain (2014) introduced a new, disco-infused direction that saw them move away from their swampy roots and relocate to Los Angeles.

The band teamed up with producer Julian Casablancas (and frontman of The Strokes) to make City Club (2016), their breakthrough hit album that led to world tours (and even a live appearance on Ellen). 2018 brought Casual Acquaintances, a raw collection of City Club-era demos and outtakes that - even as b-sides - ranks with the band's finest material. Between records they toured constantly, raising their status as icons of the Los Angeles music underground, capable of drawing arena-sized crowds for their hometown shows. On their latest, self-produced record Natural Affair (2019), The Growlers deliver their finest songwriting, warmest sounds, and most memorable lyrics for an epic, timeless affair.

NEW ALBUM NATURAL AFFAIR LP RELEASE DATE SET

BEACH GOTH HALLOWEEN AT LEGENDARY HOLLYWOOD PALLADIUM TO SELL MORE THAN 11,000 TICKETSTHIRD NIGHT ADDED BY POPULAR DEMAND

"Wine still cheap & red / Eyes still deep & true
Glasses raise again / Drink to the pulp of youth"

"Some bands just ooze cool. The proudly independent LA band The Growlers serves up an infectious combo of new wave, disco and indie rock in Natural Affair." - Mike Vasilikos, NPR

Icons of the Los Angeles underground The Growlers drop their dreamy new track "Pulp of Youth" today, the fourth single from their much-anticipated upcoming LP Natural Affair, due October 25 on the band's very own Beach Goth Records & Tapes. Hot off the European leg of their massive 2019 Tour - which included a stand-out set at the Green Man Festival in the UK - the band's winning new fans worldwide with their 80s-infused take on that all-American sound of raw, rumbling garage rock. Previous singles "Try Hard Fool," "Foghorn Town," and "Natural Affair" quickly went into heavy rotation on SiriusXMU, snagging positions on LA's KCRW Top 10 and LA's KCSN Top 5 plus Spotify's New Music Friday and Ultimate Indie playlists, not to mention the band's overall performance across platforms, with 200 million Spotify plays, 1.5 million monthly listeners, and 75 million YouTube streams.

About "Pulp of Youth"
Opening with a swaying, atmospheric groove inspired by the Pacific island vibes of Haruomi Hosono (founding member of Yellow Magic Orchestra and connoisseur of all-American pop) "Pulp of Youth" sees The Growlers expanding their sonic palette while staying true to what they do best: delivering a rocking, singalong chorus about the pleasures (and perils) of modern love. "The love and happiness for my wife is why I'm still here," says singer Brooks Nielsen. "I see a lot of people around me dropping like flies, whether from bad relationships, drugs, or bands falling apart. But my girl, the mother of my kids, she keeps me on the vine. I want to stay with her and stay right. We're still very much in love, just like when we were younger, in the pulp of youth."

About the Tour
Now on the final leg of their 54-date 2019 World Tour, The Growlers are edging closer to their hometown of LA. This year the band hosts their annual Beach Goth event as a three night Halloween party at the legendary Hollywood Palladium, featuring extended performances, surprises and special guests.

BAND HEADLINES NYC SUMMERSTAGE, CENTRAL PARK WITH
THE LEMONHEADS & THE NUDE PARTY SEPT 14

CONTINUES MASSIVE TOUR NOW INCLUDING EUROPE WINTER 2020

"Without danger you got no style /
But you can only try so hard"
LISTEN & SHARE: The Growlers - "Try Hard Fool"

Los Angeles-based rockers The Growlers drop their new track "Try Hard Fool" today, the third single from their anticipated upcoming LP Natural Affair. Hot off their recent European tour - which included a stand-out set at the Green Man Festival in the UK - the band's winning new fans worldwide with their 80s-infused take on that all-American sound of raw, rumbling garage rock. Previous singles "Foghorn Town" and "Natural Affair" quickly went into heavy rotation on SiriusXMU, snagging positions on LA's KCRW Top 10 and Spotify's New Music Friday playlist, not to mention the band's overall performance across platforms, with 200 million Spotify plays, 1.2 million monthly listeners, and 75 million YouTube streams

About "Try Hard Fool"
Drunken keyboards, fizzy guitars, and self-deprecating lyrics, all wrapped inside a ballad that recalls an older, slower, laid back Growlers. It's sure to please the super fans in the way way back, but what about the title? "It's an old term we used growing up," says singer Brooks Nielsen. "Like, 'That kid's a try-hard.' Trying too hard to be popular, trying to be successful. If I feel like I'm trying too hard at anything, I have to check myself. The lyrics are directed at me, keeping me in line, reminding me to take a break, but don't quit."
