Acclaimed soul artist Allen Stone’s single “Look Outside,” off his 2019 record Building Balance, has taken on an unexpected new meaning in the age of coronavirus. “Look outside / The world is changing in front of my eyes,” he sings. Today Stone releases an empathetic new video for the track, filmed during the current period of self-quarantine. The clip juxtaposes footage of the empty cityscapes of New York CityLos Angeles, and Seattle with scenes of families and friends - and Stone and his bandmates - connecting over FaceTime. Grace Jones, a doctor at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, appears in a scene recorded in between shifts at the ER, and the video is dedicated to her and all other frontline workers fighting COVID-19.

“I wrote this song quite a while back about my own personal journey towards happiness and spiritual health,” says Stone. “When the pandemic came the song seemed to take on a new meaning. The video for ‘Look Outside’ that Nate Townsend, Offbeat productions and myself put together in quarantine tells a very real story of what humanity is currently facing.”

Stone gave charismatic high-profile performances on the TODAY ShowJimmy Kimmel Live, and most recently, a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR Music, who raved, “The Washington state native has a voice that we simply don't come across often… He's been releasing music for more than a decade and touring the world, but last year's Building Balance is his best yet.”
