Louise Burns Releases Portraits : Available November 8 [Light Organ Records]

Louise Burns Releases Portraits :
Available November 8

During the early months of 2018 former bassist of teen pop bank Lillix, Louise Burns spent time in LA working on new songs with renowned producers such as Damian Taylor (Arcade Fire, Killers), Stint (Carly Rae Jepsen, Santigold) and Jasper Leak (Sia). This was the first time Louise had worked with co-writers on her own material, and it helped to unlock some of her most emotionally forthright songs yet. Her latest album Portraits highlights Louise’s own burgeoning career as a producer with soaring melodies that are instantly catchy and unflinchingly direct.

After the initial sessions in LA Louise perfected her songs by taking a hands-on approach in making “Portraits”. She acted as curator for a dream team of collaborators including Matt Robertson (Björk, ANOHNI), Dominic Conway, Darcy Hancock (Ladyhawk), Jason Corbett (ACTORS), Pedro Dzelme (604 Studios), David Prowse (Japandroids), Hannah Georgas, Alanna Finn-Morris (Fionn) and Jody Glenham.

“Pop music allows me to be vulnerable.” Louise admits. “I’m hiding behind seemingly joyful, danceable music, but I’m getting away with saying something more substantial.”

Portraits is both a celebration of her past and a bold step into the future.

“Louise Burns has definitely become one of Canada’s secret weapons.”
- Exclaim

"[Young Mopes is] a record full of witchy, Stevie Nicks-esque gestures, Go-Go’s-inspired harmonies and chiming guitars. The “madman” of the opening track “make-believes that everything’s just fine.”
– The New York Times
