Following his recent collaborative single "Risk" with Dreamville's inimitable BasFKJ has released his new Ylang Ylang EP via Mom + Pop. Accompanying the EP release is the title track and video "Ylang Ylang" featuring a changing backdrop full of lush scenic views as FKJ plays an ivory white piano in the foreground. The EP drew its name from a remote location in the jungle and was the result of a tumultuous year that saw FKJ relocate and isolate himself from the world in search of a change in environment and lifestyle. Ylang Ylang is the culmination of FKJ's feelings while creating the EP: it's the sound of technical mastery being bypassed for and born from emotional complexity.

Going deeper on the EP FKJ states, "It's called Ylang, it's the name of the place I stayed isolated for months in the jungle. It's not a single; I want to present it a more like a conceptual one, like a film scoring of that time and place. Last year I spent about six months in a very remote tropical place where I setup a studio. There is almost no one there. No electricity. I was making music out of a generator that was running only by night. The most beautiful landscapes, mountains, beaches. It's one of my favourite places in the world. When I made music there it felt kind of like a dream state"

FKJ is no stranger to collaboration - aside from his solo efforts, he has worked with and helped provide a platform to many other artists including Masego, whom he flew out to Paris to jam with on the improvised track that would later become the hit song "Tadow" (garnering over 154M views on YouTube and over 95M streams to date on Spotify)Tom MischJordan Rakei((( O ))) and Tom Bailey. FKJ has amassed over 300M streams worldwide for his 2017 debut album French Kiwi Juice  and his previous EP's, Time For A Change, and Take Off.

FKJ recently performed numerous sold out shows across North America that included performances at Webster Hall, Terminal 5, The Shrine, and Mission Ballroom as well as world-renowned music festivals such as Lollapalooza and Coachella. With the release of Ylang Ylang, FKJ closes out 2019 and prepares for even more growth in 2020 - stream / watch below and stay tuned for more news to come!
