Seefeel share previously unreleased song "Rough For Radio"

Seefeel share previously unreleased song "Rough For Radio" from Peel Session included in WXAXRXP Sessions series of releases, celebrating 30 years of Warp Records

Warp have released another striking session track from their WXAXRXP Sessions box set and 12" collection. "Rough for Radio" is one of two exclusive tracks recorded for a session for John Peel's famous BBC show in 1994. The band were invited to record the session after Peel fell head over heels for their demos, which were also circulated to labels around the same time. The session was broadcast the same year they released their first EPs on Warp (Starethrough and Fracture/Tied), which were followed by the full-length Succour on Warp in 1995.

The session was a combination of previously prepared material and live recordings in the BBC studios. Seefeel's Mark Clifford recalls, "It seemed a waste to be in this legendary location and not to try and create something new there. Given the stress of the reality of what that meant under the time constraints we had, it might not have been the best move, but I sat on the floor, samples loaded, sequencer running and somehow managed to get it done. Sarah was kind of put on the spot in terms of coming up with a vocal."

Mark adds "It was tight, like one of those action films where everything is saved with seconds to spare. Given the rigidity of the BBC machine, I doubt there would have been much chance of us 'scavving' a few extra minutes at the end, so fortunately we did end up with 4 tracks rather than 3.5. Peel, of course, after having expressed wonder that we hadn't done a session for him earlier, announced the track as "Rough for Radio, that's exactly how we like it!" which took the sting out of the whole experience considerably. What a gent."

Seefeel embark on an 11 date tour of the US on November 1st (Full dates below) and will perform their classic album Quique in full as part of a Jon Hopkins curated line up for Hydra at London's Printworks on Friday 25th October.
