Oct. 22, 2019, Beverly, Mass. – Caspian, the beloved Massachusetts-based sextet whose music Pitchfork said is “the most regal of the instrumental new rock school” and the New York Times described as making “immersive” and “epic” music, have announced an early 2020 Western North American tour, marking the band’s first swing through the West Coast in three years.

“It will be most welcome for us New Englanders to escape winter’s grip up here for a second and discover much more of the West Coast than we usually would be able to on a longer U.S. tour,” says Philip Jamieson. “We haven’t been out that way in three years, see you this January.”

The tour news comes as Caspian prepares for both a busy end-of-the-year and an eventful 2020. First up are a pair of hometown shows, Nov. 16 at The Cabot, that sees the band accompanied by the Losander Chamber Orchestra, performing 2 hours of career spanning and never before heard material. The evening performance is sold out but a limited number of tickets remain for the matinee. Those must see outings are followed by an Asian tour that finds the band playing eight Chinese cities as well as a Tokyo date. Additional tour dates for 2020 will be announced soon.

Since the Beverly, Mass.-based band’s inception, they’ve earned accolade upon accolade for their sweeping, cinematic music. 2015’s Dust and Disquiet was hailed by Noisey as “the life-affirming soundtrack you need in your life,” Brooklyn Vegan exclaimed “eardrums will be blown and jaws will be dropped” upon hearing the 10-song release, while Spin described the sextet’s output as “epic, wordless orchestral swells on the lush, layered, and crushingly pretty.” Caspian is Philip Jamieson (guitar/keyboards), Erin Burke-Moran (guitar), Jonny Asburn (guitar), Jani Zubkovs (bass), Calvin Joss (guitar) and Justin Forrest (drums).
