Honeyblood have today released their stunning new record In Plain Sight on Marathon Artists. The new album - Honeyblood’s third - sees Stina Tweeddale finding her most ambitious form and steely focus yet, stepping forward to claim the project she created seven years ago as a her solo vision. Honeyblood are currently on a mammoth run of 3o dates around the United Kingdom dubbed the ‘No Drama’ tour culminating on 15 June at The Brewery in Kendal.
Full of big, bold, songwriting and no longer content to be tied to one limited genre, In Plain Sight is woven with mysterious themes of illusion and deception; Tweeddale describes the album as “one big trick”. Being hoodwinked never felt so exciting. Echoing that sentiment, for the album's stunning artwork, Tweeddale researched optical illusionists and met Peruvian visual artist Cecilia Parades, who eventually agreed to painstakingly paint her into the ornate fabrics seen on the cover across two eight hour sittings.
Tweeddale takes the reins in collaboration with super-producer John Congleton (Angel Olsen, St Vincent, Sharon Van Etten) for the most definitive Honeyblood LP to date - as sonically gung-ho as peak era Garbage, or the modern day likes of St Vincent - and consolidating the Glasgow-born band as one of the most important names in U.K. indie.
In Plain Sight has received warm reviews across print and online press with Mojo praising it for being “Stuffed with catchy bubblegum–punk,” and The Line Of Best Fit adding “Her tracks – often blisteringly anthemic – demonstrate an understanding of the medium that others often lack”. While Louder Than War lauded it as “A highly addictive and irresistible album” in their 9/10 review. Uncut said, “Stina Tweeddale is very good at this punky Caledonian take on US bubblegum pop.” Metro summed the album up most succinctly: “In Plain Sight is the work of a woman finding her feet and her form.” Recent single ‘She’s A Nightmare’ was given its radio debut by Shaun Keaveny, who also invited the band in for a live session on BBC Radio 6 Music, and quickly followed lead single ‘The Third Degree’ - which arrived in February - onto the station’s playlist.
Recognised as one of the hardest working bands in the country, the all-new full live lineup have today announced a further run of U.K. headline dates in October and November - which includes a Halloween bonanza at The Garage on 31 October.
