Who is Salt? Why is the album titled Salt? Why did Andrea Estella build Salt? Why did Mr Twin Sister build Salt? Is Salt good for you? How much Salt is enough? Who will hear Salt? Can you hear Salt’s heels clicking down the hall? How tall is Salt? Tall enough to love? Tall enough to fear? What is Salt?
What else is Salt?
ARTIST STATEMENT
Salt is depthless, wandering, wanting, reliant, trapped, restless, waiting, wished upon, released, cinched, trimmed, unseen, erased, outsung, seen, rewatched, unknown, smeared, unsure, wanting, needing, seeking, losing, refined, unobstructed, alone, cold, alien, purified, aged, polished, remade, fortified, forgotten, fearful, longing, waiting,

NOTES FOR PRESS
Salt is the third full length album by Mr Twin Sister.
Salt was written and recorded over roughly four years.
Salt is the name of the marionette featured on the cover of Salt
Salt was built from pearls, fabric, beads, and wood by Andrea Estella.
Salt foregrounds the distinctive, increasingly confident vocal work of Andrea Estella.
Salt follows Mr Twin Sister’s continued pursuit of tightly arranged, pop-informed interpretations of American song forms (r&b, funk, jazz, electro).
The influence of dance and electronic music on the group - a theme explored prominently on Mr Twin Sister’s 2014 self titled album - appears on Salt in a matured, sublimated form.
Salt’s lyrics touch on hopelessness, isolation, missed connections, loss of self, insolvency, the surveillance state, American consumerism, body image, gender variance, porn, and secular spirituality.
Salt features Mr Twin Sister’s first track in Spanish, “Deseo,” in which Estella compares alteration of the human body to the art of bonsai.
Salt makes strategic use of member Eric Cardona’s increasingly sophisticated work as a tenor saxophonist.
Salt features frequent contributions from drummer and percussionist Pablo Eluchans.
