Austin's Calliope Musicals (that's cuh-lie-oh-p!) are happy to announce the release of a new single, "Cosmic Poison Arrow."  Of the track the band's Carrie Fussell notes, "Craig wrote the piano and synth parts of this song while we were in New York City which was fitting because I thought the piano felt very old school New York,  The instrumental parts were so exciting musically that it was tough to build lyrics around them... but 5 or 6 musical mad-libs later we created this strange story."   The band shot a video for the single and Fussell further states, "We made this video with one of our closest friends and collaborators Kate Blaising. It all happened very quickly-- less than two weeks from the time we decided to make a video, we were in Originator Studios for 30 hours straight filming."  Watch "Cosmic Poison Arrow" here:

Today's single marks the first bit of music Calliope Musicals have released since signing to their new label Rhyme & Reason.   The label's Emmy Black notes, "we are excited to have Calliope Musicals be a part of the Rhyme and Reason family.  They have a great communal spirit and make party rock of the highest order."

Calliope Musicals is confirmed to play this year's Utopia Fest in Burnet, TX on November 3.

For the unfamiliar, Calliope Musicals is the hottest, weirdest party band to come out of central Texas in a very long time. Led by dynamic singer/songwriter Carrie Fussell, the band has earned themselves a national following with their infectious sound and incredible live show, sharing stages with Shakey Graves, Peelander-Z, White Denim, and the Polyphonic Spree. Fans and critics have been equally impressed. "The Austin band presents a rich and swirling example of modern space-rock done right," noted NPR's All Songs Considered.
