THE DECEMBERISTS ANNOUNCE ADDITIONAL FALL U.S. TOUR DATES BEHIND THEIR INSPIRED NEW ALBUM I’LL BE YOUR GIRL OUT NOW

The Decemberists have announced a final leg of 2018 U.S tour dates for this Fall behind their inspired new albumI’ll Be Your Girl, which features the #1 Triple A radio hit “Severed.” The dates run from September 12 in Baltimore to October 2 in Madison, and include stops throughout the Northeast, South, and Midwest. VIP pre-sales begin Tuesday, May 15 before the general on-sale this Friday, May 18 at 10am local time. Additional September dates will be announced shortly. The Decemberists will be touring extensively throughout 2018 with their next run of dates beginning May 22 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, and including shows at Celebrate Brooklyn in NYC (June 13), two hometown shows at Edgefield outside Portland (June 22-23), and the Greek Theatre in LA (July 31). On August 4-5 the band will host the second coming of their own curated festival Travelers’ Rest, which will take place at the Big Sky Brewing Company Amphitheatre in Missoula, Montana. The Decemberists will be headlining both days of the festival, once again playing two unique sets, with other confirmed artists announced including Death Cab For Cutie, Jeff Tweedy, Mavis Staples, Tune-Yards, Whitney, Parquet Courts, Tinariwen, I’m With Her, Waxahatchee and Lucy Dacus. The band’s lead singer and songwriter Colin Meloy, who is also a New York Times best-selling author of theWildwood Chronicles and The Whiz Mob and The Grenadine Kid, has just released The Golden Thread (Balzer + Bray/HarperCollins Publishers), a new picture book biography of the legendary folk musician, labor and civil rights activist, and environmentalist Pete Seeger. The book was illustrated by cut-paper artist Nikki McClure, and is available now on The Decemberists Store. Meloy once joined Seeger on stage, singing American folk standards at the Newport Folk Festival in 2011, and even now, he can barely believe it actually happened. The Decemberists’ eighth studio album I’ll Be Your Girl was released in March on Capitol Records and found the band—Meloy, guitarist Chris Funk, keyboardist Jenny Conlee, bassist Nate Query, and drummer John Moen—embracing different influences and working with a new producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Lana Del Rey) to broaden their sonic range and explore new approaches to making music.
