Plus, Official Satellite Shows Bring the Music of Noise Pop to San Jose, Santa Cruz, and Sacramento

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (January 23, 2018) Noise Pop Festival, the San Francisco Bay Area’s premiere indie music and arts festival, has announced their lineup of alternative programming consisting of film screening events, happy hours, art openings, and Robert Rich’s Sleep Concert in collaboration with Flow Kana, branded distributor of craft sun grown cannabis. In addition to live music performances from over 100 artists at more than 25 venues across the Bay Area, these special events will take place during the festival’s 26th year February 19–25, 2018.

On February 20, Noise Pop will present Orson Welles’ “Too Much Johnson” with live soundtrack by guitarist William Tyler (of Lambchop and Silver Jews) at Alamo Drafthouse. Additionally, five-piece LA-based band NILBOG, which features some of the city’s most dedicated film score lovers, including former/current members of Clipping, Thee Oh Sees, Monsturo, Captain Ahab and Anavan, will recreate some of the most beloved and fetishized horror movie themes of the past few decades at Rickshaw Stop on February 25. Festival attendees can also enjoy a film screening of ODDSAC, a visual album by Animal Collective and Danny Perez, on February 22 at Alamo Drafthouse.

Noise Pop is also excited to bring a special event to the festival for the first time, Robert Rich’s Sleep Concert in collaboration with Flow Kana, on February 23 at Gray Area. Sure to be one of the most unique and rare offerings this year, ambient musician Robert Rich will play music from 11:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. as attendees relax in the room and drift off to sleep. And even though Rich is from the Bay Area, this will be the first time in recent years he’s performed a Sleep Concert for local audiences. Individual tickets to this event will go on sale this Friday, January 26 at 10 a.m. PT.

The Benders Happy Hours will return this year and will bring free performances and merriment Wednesday, February 21 through Saturday, February 24, each with a different presenter (Sea Witch Productions, DoTheBay, Text Me Records, and Benders) and featuring artists like Friendless Summer, Bear Call, Moon Daze, COKE, Bruh From Last Night, and more.

This year’s art openings are free to attend and include a showing of the Rock art of Emek at Haight Street Art Center on February 24 from 6 to 9 p.m. and the Noise Pop Photo Retrospective at The Royale February 20 at 6 p.m. For more details on these events and performers, visit noisepopfest.com.

The festival is also proud to highlight this year’s amazing slate of Bay Area talent. In addition to artists from outside the region, such as Built to Spill (performing Keep It Like A Secret), Ty Dolla $ign, Real Estate, Madlib (dj set), Jay Electronica, and Parquet Courts, 2018 performers from the Bay Area include Tune-Yards, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down, Geographer, Jay Som, Caleborate, and many more. See below for a full list of locally based performers on the lineup. And please note that artists are subject to change.
