They met at CBGB’s in the 1970s, traversed the US and the UK with some of their favorite bands, and have now landed themselves at the center of a documentary. They are known simply as Dennis & Lois. The superfan couple were featured in this Sunday’s edition of The New York Times as the focus of a Character Study. Times staff writer Corey Kilgannon visited the couple’s Long Island house chock full of over 20,000 artifacts, including a telegram from Joey Ramone requesting the couple’s services. The article appeared online Thursday, July 27 and in print Sunday, July 30.

The superfan couple are the subjects of an upcoming documentary by filmmaker Chris Cassidy, who followed the superfan couple for over five years and interviewed many of the famous musicians who have come to love and depend on them. Marky RamoneFrank Sidebottom, Peter Hook (Joy Division) and more can be seen singing the couple’s praises via Vimeo now. The documentary, titled Dennis & Lois, is currently in post-production and is being funded by fans via Kickstarter. The team is at nearly 40% of their goal with 21 days in the campaign -- contribute here!
