TOUR DATES SUPPORTING
AIMEE MANN KICK OFF
THURSDAY, APRIL 20, JUNE DATES ADDED

Jonathan Coulton will be releasing a new album - Solid State - on April 28. The notorious hacktivist group Anonymous has obtained an advance copy of the vinyl LP, and today have released an unboxing video that features a preview of the album track "Brave."  You can watch the unboxing for yourself here:

Jonathan Coulton has a storied career in the spaces between the internet and the music industry. The tech professional-turned-musician once conducted a Thing a Week experiment, in which he recorded and published a new song every Friday for a year, wrote the songs "Still Alive" and "Want You Gone" for the award winning Portal games, regularly contributes to the NPR quiz show "Ask Me Another" as its very own one-man band, and runs his own fan cruise aptly called the JoCo Cruise.

In support of Solid State, Coulton has confirmed a tour of North America as the support for Aimee Mann.  The dates kick off April 20 at Washington, DC's Lincoln Theater and will include stops at The Town Hall in New York City on April 22 and The Theater At Ace Hotel on May 13 in Los Angeles.  Dates in June have just been added that include another stop in the NYC area with a show at Brooklyn'Music Hall Of Williamsburg onJune 26.  The full tour is listed below.

To date Coulton has released one single off the album, "All This Time." Calling the video "high concept" The New York Times also said the track, "runs on the motoric synthesizer rhythm of krautrock as it seeks a post-dystopian bliss. Watch "All This Time" here:

Solid State is linked to a new graphic novel written by Matt Fraction and drawn by
Albert Monteys. The novel explores the fates of two men (both, as it happens, named Bob) and the God-like artificial intelligence that both protects and abandons them. Set inside a city sedated by what Coulton calls "nicey-nice fascism," the story traces humanity from its current state to a locked-in, medicated, machine-run future. Together, the album and the graphic novel tell an ambitious, multi-layered science fiction story about how technology reveals us, changes us, and maybe ultimately will save us, if we can just remember to be nice to each other.
